I am from Europe and Love the Fiat 500e, but where to find a pre owned car to buy?

I love this car so much but we cannot buy it in Europe
So I have to import one from california.

Therefor I will take a flight to SF in begin of september 2016 to buy a good Fiat 500e 2013 or 2014 for a reasonable price and export to europe .
Shipping, tax and custom will cost about 7.500,-- USD extra. So I am looking for price not higher than 9.000,-- USD.

Please help me where to look for!

    Thanks Guenther

    Gunther,
    Welcome to the forum!

One good source for used cars in the US is CarMax. They have locations in every state, and can also get cars from one of their stores to another. You can search their inventory on line, and in a quick search I found this CarMax location in California that has five 500e for sale: https://www.carmax.com/search/used-c...9663&Zip=94534

I don't know all the details of export/import or if the US version 500e is legal in Austria, but I'm sure you are checking on all of those details. Viel Gluck!

Thank you a lot! That's what I am looking for. But the car has a lot of miles? You have experiance with your 500e, what do you think how long can the batteries last? Is there a possibility to read the datas fro the cells to check the health?
    Thank you for your help!

I just saw an old article yesterday, about a few 500e vehicles being used as part of a car sharing service in Turin, Italy:
    http://insideevs.com/fiat-500e-arrives-home-in-europe/

I would check to see if the car sharing service is still around, and if perhaps they might be selling any of their fleet. While importing new ones for their car sharing service.

The auto rental agencies in the US sell their vehicles after they have been in service a couple of years or around 30,000 miles. So maybe the car sharing service does the same.

Be warned that many spare parts for 500e are difficult to get even in California. The 500e is a very low production car built just for Fiat/Chrysler to meet California emissions regulations and the parts supply is also very low. Sometimes the best way to get a part is from a broken 500e from a junkyard dealer. Also very few people (even Fiat dealers in California) know how to diagnose and fix 500e problems.

For financial reasons, most new 500e are leased for 3 years (not purchased). The 500e first became available in 2013, and now 3 years later those leases are starting to be returned. There will be many used 500e coming up for sale.

    There are 32 used 500e at cars.com: https://www.cars.com/for-sale/search...Source=UTILITY
There are over 40 500e listed at http://www.edmunds.com/

Thank you for the warnings. I know that there is a risk to buy a car without service in europe and also that is will be diffcult to get spare parts. But not at all you know, when you fell in love you are not reasonable anymore. The links you send are very helpful for me ! Thank you!

Hey Gnther, it looks like the car sharing service is still there.

    I found this:
    https://plus.google.com/+carsharingtorino

    And this:
    https://translate.google.com/transla...no&prev=search

Which has a link to this:
    https://translate.googleusercontent....Q#main-content

It ends up being a bit messy on that page for me, but they do show some Fiat photos. I don't see the 500e there. But, still thinking, you may want to call down, see if they still have any 500e, so at least you can DRIVE one before buying. And see if they are willing to sell one to you.

It's a day drive, depending on where you are in Austria, around 8 hours, give or take a couple hours.

I don't know what the charging infrastructure is, but it would be amazing to drive an e home too, taking breaks along the way to charge up, see sights, stay overnight some places. Taking your time.

Certainly would be easier to have the 500e shipped by truck to Austria from Italy, than it would from the US.

I just wish Fiat would make the 500e available somewhere in Europe. I'd imagine there would be many enthusiasts willing to import from one country to another.

Also, if you can get one from the car sharing service, they MIGHT be able to PROVIDE service for the car. Someone had to do basics, whatever maintenance is needed, if any.

Do you have a Fiat now?
