    Distance Range?

Does the Fiat Access app have a distance limitation? Sometimes I might have a reason to unlock it from 50 miles away.

    Thanks!

The app on your phone connects to a server at Fiat, which in turn communicates with the car, all on the cell network. If both you and the car are in range of a cell tower, you can communicate.

In theory, it should work worldwide as long as your phone is connected to the internet. It's possible that for security reasons the server checks the locations of the phone and car, and blocks commands when it comes from a different country or too great a distance. There should be no issue with 50 miles.

However... given the general unreliability of the Fiat Access app, you'd better be prepared for the possibility that it might not work at the exact time you want it to!

Does the app send you a confirmation after unlocking/locking the door?

I dunno. The only thing I use the app for is to check the car's state of charge.

I tried it out of curiosity. Try it yourself, and you'll have your answer. Only takes a couple of minutes.

Had to ask because I didn't have the 500e yet and the registration website was down for maintenance. Went ahead and got one though! I'm sure it'll work out.

Cool Access App usually works well for my 2014 500e!

My 2014 Fiat 500e generally responses to all the commands being sent. It responds to Lock /Unlock commands, Air on/Air off commands, Status and Location commands, History, Notifications, Horn, and maybe some of the others. I'll have to wait until the winter to see if it responds to pre-heating the car, so that will be awhile here in Florida. I also haven't manually asked it to Charge or stop Charge commands yet, since FPL here is on a consistent KW rate of about 10.6 cents per kilowatt. So, I just plug it in and let it run until charged.

Usually the app works well for me although sometimes it says the app has stopped working, but that occurs only after a command has been sent. Checking usually indicates the command did go through.

It's pre-conditioning, and it will apply either AC or heat as needed to reach the temperature setting. In summer you can use it to cool the car. Before turning off the car, set the temperature you want and the vent controls to AUTO.

Note that since you have a 2014, your remote app might stop working sometime this year (36 months after the car went into service). This topic has been discussed quite a bit. http://www.fiataccess.com/termsofservices.pdf

I just returned my 2014 at end of lease and just got a 2017.

App was working, and I managed to get both the Fiat app and the Uconnect app working on the new car...

That's good because the Uconnect app has less capability, like you cannot remotely start a charge, and there's only 5 kinds of notifications it can control, there's about 20 controlled by the Fiat app.
