I just installed a Cravenspeed short shifter and knob in my 500T and although it shifts nicely, the knob feels terrible. Mind you, I've been driving sticks for almost 50 years so I've felt a few knobs in my life (heh, heh). The problem with the Cravenspeed (other than the price) are the grooves machined into the sides of the plastic part of the knob. They cut into your hand with every shift and eventually fill up with, well, you. I think I'll design a new plastic part in CAD then print it out on my 3D printer and give that a try. Oh, and the red cap with the shift pattern engraved in it has red paint in the engraving so it's almost impossible to see the pattern. Highly annoying considering how much this thing cost. If I had it to do it all over again, I wouldn't have bought the whole thing and just looked for a better knob to fit onto the stock shifter.

Just a short update on my Cravenspeed shift knob. I removed it and replaced it with one I found here, although it can also be found on eBay. The knob looks and feels like a cue ball, is quite heavy and feels good in your hand. It has a M15 threaded brass insert to mount it.

    https://www.sickspeed.com/collection...nd-accessories

The knob requires an adapter for the shift arm. I bought this one off eBay:

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/255117245555

The adapter comes with several plastic spacers of different sizes to accommodate different shift arm sizes. The knob threads onto the adapter then the adapter slides onto a spacer then onto your shifter arm. It is held in place using 6(!) setscrews that tighten down on the plastic spacer so the shifter arm is not damaged. I used Locktite thread locker on all the threaded parts. Sounds wonky but it all seems to work.

I also bought and installed a new leather shift boot that I bought from AliExpress:

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005...3da24c4d9MpcBP

It is made of leather with the Abarth name and logo embroidered (not silkscreened) onto it. It's made slightly small so the fit is tight. Looks great to me though.

My impressions? The Cravenspeed gets most of it's "short shifter" function from mounting the shift knob very low on the shifter arm. Meaning the shifter arm slides fairly deeply into the knob thereby changing the pivot/shift geometry. This new knob with it's adapter moves everything back to essentially the stock position which in turn makes it feel like a stock shifter even though I have the so called Cravenspeed short shifter arm. This knob with the adapter should fit onto the stock Fiat shifter arm since it has the same 12mm diameter as the Cravenspeed arm.

Regardless, I love the feel and look of the new knob. It looks and feels very similar to the Hurst shifter that I have in my 66 Mustang GT Fastback. Maybe that's why I like it so much. Lol. I only wish I still had the shorter feeling shift pattern. I have an idea floating around in my head for an adapter that will allow mounting the knob deep onto the shift arm like the Cravenspeed. Time to dust off my lathe.
