After several hours on the phone with Chrysler, Fiat, UConnect, and probably a few others (all transfers from calling the 800 number in the manual), it seems that there is no one who knows how to get the UConnect registration code for the 5.0/RA2 on the 500x Easy. After speaking to supervisors and such, they claim that I'm the first in the country to call on it (which seems hard to believe). They started by asking me to press the "assist" button on the rearview mirror, which doesn't exist. Then they looked through some more manuals and asked me to push the "menu" button on the stereo...also doesn't exist. Scrolled through settings and menus...found nothing. Finally, they seemed to have a "eureka" moment and said to push the menu button on my speedometer housing which, of course, is nonexistent. Pushing the "apps" button on the unit only brings up "clock" and "outside temperature"...anyone else having any luck with getting the registration code from a 500x Easy with RA2/5.0? Maybe there are secret menus with certain key sequences? My VIN is in their system, but we can't find the registration code for the vehicle.

Similar issue here with 500x Trekking Plus - cannot register car and cannot get the Via Mobile App to work - Uconnect is telling me that the car does not have the functionality to use Apps... yet it is an advertised feature on the Fiat Website !!!

I purchased a 500x Treking Plus yesterday (Uconnect 6.5) and have been fiddling with the Uconnect to try and get the iHeart Radio and Pandora apps to show up on the touchscreen with no success. I downloaded the mobile app, linked both services, signed up for MoparOwnerConnect and the menu for the Via Mobile still does not show up when the app button is pressed on the touchscreen. Just called Fiat Support at 1-888-242-6342 and was told that my vehicle does not support the Via Mobile option. That's why you couldn't find the "menu" button. It is just not available for your model. She listed all of the options that it does provide and I have confirmed that all of them are functioning. I think the app portion of Uconnect/Via Mobile is only available for Uconnect 8.0 and above, although she couldn't confirm this

It's really not a big deal for me as I have both apps on my phone and can stream them through the radio using BlueTooth, but it would have been nice if FIAT/Uconnect made it clear exactly which Uconnect features are available for which models. Instead they just provide all of the "possible" options then say "If your model supports it", leaving the owner to track down what is available to them.

Those apps would work by streaming over a cellular connection. Which is a feature not standard on any of the FIAT 500x. (Its also the feature that got FCA in trouble with the hacking issue)

There is a Mopar addon that can provide access to Fiat 500x. I'm not sure if that will allow you to get the apps or not and its around $400. Having wifi in a car has been useful for me in the past, but its not really any different than simply using a hotspot in your phone.

Just found this in the user guide:

"Uconnect Access via Mobile, which uses the Uconnect Access app and you smartphone’s
data plan to access your personal Pandora, iHeartRadio and Slacker accounts from the
vehicle and enable their control using the touchscreen, is a late availability feature.Visit
DriveUconnect.com to check for availability and additional information"

To make it even more confusing though, the OwnersManual says this:

"Mobile App (6.5AN)Securely link your mobile device to your vehicle with the
Uconnect Access App. Once you have downloaded the
App, you may start your vehicle or lock it from virtually
any distance. (Vehicle must be properly equipped with
    factory-installed Remote Start.)"

So by piecing things together, it appears that the Via Mobile apps are available with 6.5, but just not offered by FIAT

Saw the WiFi Hotspot option on the Uconnect site. It's really overpriced at $35 a month since it only provides 3G speeds. You're right, probably better off just using the you're phone.

My wife and I test drove yesterday a 2016 Fiat 500x Trekking Plus - She loves it and we will go back and buy it beginning next week. I have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee with the 8.4 AN and checked out the 6.5 AN and haven't found those APPS either. I remember in my research for the Jeep - that I saw this was added in an software update last year - I'm sure Fiat will add those too .. just a matter of the update. My wife was exited to have Pandora in the car thru the radio .. so I really hope I'm right here :-)

I can confirm that Via Mobile is not compatible with 6.5 system on Fiat 500x trekking plus. Spent several hours over last 5 days with customer support until I was finally able to speak to someone who seemed to know... He apologized but confirmed that despite advertisement the 6.5 system does not have app support via the touchscreen.
You can stream Pandora or anything via your phone but the app function of the Uconnect has been dropped and the system is not compatible with no plans for update...

I have to say that I am a little disappointed, this was heavily advertised and pushed by the sales people and to be later told that it is an error kind of sucks.

I'm fairly certain that Pandora is part of UConnect Access. Its not a feature that is available by default on the 500x. This feature requires a cellular modem to access the internet to provide Pandora streaming.

It would appear that you can get the Mopar part to add it on for about $350. Whether or not this adds the apps is not clear.

If you go here you can see that the Via Mobile option is not available for the 2016 Fiat. I suppose that they could add it through an update later, but why not just include it with the new models?
