My 2013 500 Sport Owner's Manual is slightly different. Page279. I can't figure out how to copy and paste a single pdf page.

    "The manufacturer
recommends the use of 91 octane or higher for
    optimum performance."
2013 Fiat 500 Sport AT, Xpel Ultimate Clear Bra, 3M Crystalline Window Tint, Black top stripes, Black "500" (wide) side stripes. Fiat "500" Stainless door sills by Mopar. BlueTooth music streaming. OBDII BlueTooth Torque gauges streaming to smart phone. Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 Plus tires, STS rear sway bar, Euro+Drive NA 500 Tune, BMC reusable air filter and Spare Tyre with cover.

Blast to drive! 25 years newer than last car!

The important distinction is required and recommended. We're lucky that we can uses either. Some folks can't.

Same here. For some cars, this occasion would have me worried (talking about you Chevy) "While operating on gasoline with an octane number of 87, hearing a light knocking sound from the engine is not a cause for concern.".
    I don't have a car, or a FIAT, yet. But, we do have a 500 as a family car. It's a 2014 FIAT 500 1.4 MultiAir 105 Pop, 6-speed AISIN AS60T Automatic, Grigio & Nero, 15" steel wheels, and a white stripe.

    105 hp - 100 lb-ft.
No big mods, except for one, a K&N air filter.

My '94 Ranger has the same warning, but I still dump in a gallon or two of premium if I hear a light ping. It usually only happens when I need full power above 30 MPH. I've never heard a ping from the '18 Fiat nor seen any MPG improvement using premium. The brand of fuel seems to make a bigger difference than the octane.
