Thanks for all the kind feedback and the warm welcome.

It seems like a really friendly crowd here.

I look forward to sharing more of my motoring adventure. I hope my contributions will be worthy.

I don't really regret getting the Abarth GQ Edition even if I might not have gotten a very good price. The motor and exhaust still have that fun pleasing sound - different from Mustang GT but loud enough nonetheless. Anybody know how the "Sport Tuned Dual Exhaust" differs from that on the usually Abarth? I really like the Abarth drivetrain and suspension but I prefer the Lounge style and comfort. Not so fond of the Abarth sport seats or all the exterior design flourishes. I prefer restraint in the appearance - so no stripes or excessive graphics for me. Perhaps I should get some Scorpions on it though... I'm even a Scorpion myself (Born October 24 same day that both my own father and Carlo Abarth died - my mom was born November 15 same day as Carlo Abarth's birthday... Destiny?).

Who knows when Fiat will make something like it again? Perhaps if anybody could recommend a good resource to read on how to best negotiate a new car purchase. Perhaps there are also specific tips relevant for the Fiats. It might make a good resource for other forum members.

My buddy who just moved to Italy with his wife said he was impressed with my choice. He's intrigued by Abarth 695 Competizione Tributo Ferrari. That might be a bit much for me.

Now I just need to learn how make the most of my new toy. Too bad the Abarth GQ isn't eligible for the track experience. I would have flown down to LA to do that! It's too bad they don't make it available to purchase. Perhaps you kind folks are familiar with something similar or perhaps better to learn how to get the most pleasure and performance out of my driving? I've heard of things like "Hollywood Driving School" to learn some of the things they do in the films. Can't wait to see what James Bond does with the little Fiat 500 in the next film. I'm living in Seattle, but I'd consider flying someplace too if it's worth it. It might also be a nice present for my brother to take him along. We need to teach him to drive manual, but I don't want to do that with my new baby Bella Bianca.

Thanks for the compliment. I'm driving 3.5 hours each way to get a white one. I could have had a black one close to home, but I prefer the white. I know white is the fad color of the moment. I don't worry about that. I suppose it might be a bigger danger that the design will look dated in short time like happened to other retro auto designs; PT Cruiser, New Beetle, etc. Even if that happens, it's hardly tragedy. I'll enjoy the love of my sweet Bella Bianca all the more intensely even if it's a brief affair.

I'm in SF currently. When I was looking, the cars I liked were in DENVER Colorado, somewhere in Arizona, and a few down in Southern California. I had a trade. And I was looking in December. Wasn't going to drive to Denver in the winter. LOL

Originally I wanted white. My last two cars were white. I like white. I like the way it stands out at night.

I couldn't deal with the Abarth seats myself and alas, had to switch over to automatics because of my hips and back pain. But if I had been able to go Abarth, the car you're picking out would have been the car I would pick out. No doubt about it. I personally don't want the loud exhaust, not in my current neighborhood and not in the one(s) I've been looking at moving to.

White is a classic color. It will always be a classic color. Just as black will be. And red.

I'm sure you'll be busy driving around for awhile after getting your new Fiat, but do post some pics if you have a chance!

Some of the GQ abarths have the same exhaust as the abarth and some of then have the scorpion "suitcase" muffler. I confirmed this by looking at our studio with four on the lot. Two had "straight pipe" and two had the "suitcase". To see which one you have, look underneath the rear of your vehicle. If you see what looks like a muffler with scorpions, you have the quieter exhaust. If it's straight pipe, it's the abarth.

As for what you paid, 24k isn't terrible. After more research, the GQ abarths that are going for 20-21 are the ones that do not have Beats or auto climate/heated seats (like the one we bought). The ones that have all options are going for 23-24. So if you have all options, then did fine.

I got mine in July and they were basically giving them away with $11k off the sticker price, I couldn't not buy it.

I am in the Dallas Forth Worth area and there is 4 at one dealer and they have taken about 6500 hundred off the MSRP publicly via their website. How does the negotiations get t0 11k off? I can not believe they are not trying harder to sell me any of these. The cheapest is a white one without the beats or automatic climate convenience package. I would like white but need the auto climate and heated seats. I have a 2013 abarth cabrio with 15k miles on it and would like to swap with them.

There are different incentives by region, at different times. And I'd guess a dealer could sell any car at any price, providing they could get a higher price or could handle a loss.

I'm looking at Holt online, and they don't have any price listed for the GQ models, it says to "please call".

Swap, straight across? Isn't going to happen. You can trade in your current Abarth. They have the Granito Lucente and the Nero Puro with the auto climate and heated seats. You can always go in and get an idea of what they would give you for your Abarth, and how low they could go with the GQ Abarth. Hopefully your Abarth is paid for, and you can see if it's a price you consider to be fair.

You can check Car Gurus to see what used Abarths in your area are going for. And check to see if there are any used GQs you could get for less than the new one. Here, let me do that, I love to do that...

Dallas, $14,998 GQ used w/9,217 miles. Has heated seats and auto climate. And it's white. Does not have Beats.

Short of buying it for you, that's a killer deal that you probably won't be able to beat with a new one. You get all the options you want, at a great price. Of course, they will give you LESS for your car, as yours has higher mileage and is a year older. If your car is paid off, upgrading to the newer, lower mileage vehicle shouldn't be a problem. What are you waiting for? Go get it!

Just a reminder, for all of the Special Editions, they may or may not be continued, expanded, changed, etc. Gucci trim came back a second year, with new options. 1957 Edition came back with a convertible offered. Cattiva Sport and Turbo were out one year only. And it seems the GQ is a one year only model too. You can't order it now, whatever stock is at the dealerships is all there is going to be. There was a whole lot of confusion as to what the Abarth with GQ trim was, when it came out, and there probably will still be confusion, depending on who you talk to.

So if you find one you like, you may not want to hesitate too long. I personally waited too long to get in on the 2012 deals and they were all gone by the time I got around to seriously shopping. Turns out I wasn't the only one waiting for sales at the end of the year, and when I called on a few cars I'd had my eye on, they were gone. Just because the cars were on the lot for awhile didn't mean there weren't other people following along to see if they'd go on sale, and immediately went to the dealership to buy them when they did.
