FIAT 500c ABARTH CABRIO GQ Edition - Pricing - 1st Impressions & Mustang Cross Shop

Have read here in the forum that some of the GQ Editions have been selling for 20K.

Should I feel like a fool for making a deposit on one for 24K?

Seemed like a good deal having been marked down from MSRP 29.2K.

    It includes:

    Customer Preferred Package 25E
    $ 700
    Side Sills Ground Effects
    Nero (Black) Performance Soft Top
    16" x 6.5" Hyper Black Alum Wheels w/
    Red Inner
    Alcantara Leather Sport Seat
    Black Brake Calipers
    Body-Color Fascias
    "Fiat 500" Badge
    Front Floor Mats
    Gloss Black Finish Exterior Door
    Appliques
    GQ Black Door Trim Panels
    GQ Edition
    GQ Edition Badge
    GQ Leather-Wrapped Steering Wheel
    Leather-Wrapped Shift Knob
    Sport Tuned Dual Exhaust
    Turbo Engine Cover
    Nero (Black) Seats
    Black Trimmed Lights
    Beats(TM) Premium Audio Package
    $ 700
    Beats(TM) Audio 6 Prem Speakers
    Including Subwoofer
    Comfort / Convenience Group
    $ 900
Auto Temp Control Air Conditioning w/
    Micron Filter
    Heated Front Seats
SiriusXM Satellite Radio w/ 1-Yr Radio

    Fiat 500c GQ Edition
    Limited production model
    Excludes Track Experience
    DESTINATION CHARGE $ 800

I actually prefer the GQ Edition Seats and I like the idea of a slightly more discrete sounding exhaust if the car performs equivalently. However I hope to purge the door logos eventually. I don't even feel like I need I a Skorpion logo (even though that is my horoscope sign). I'm not so keen on GQ Magazine - I'm not exactly their demographic. Regrettably very uncool, unhip, unfashionable, straight square. I'm surprised they let me get behind the wheel! But it sure is a fun ride!

I was also considering Mustang GT Premium. The funny thing even though the Mustang is more "butch" than the cute little Fiat and hopefully more representative of my personality, the 500 is just more fun to drive. It may not go as fast, but the speeds the 500 drives sure feel faster. The Mustang may accelerate better, but the bantam weight 500 gets up quite well enough. And I can't imagine what I'd ever do with the top end of the Mustangs vmax.

With the top down too (even in a chilly cloudy Seattle January), it's an automatic smiles machine.

On the other hand all the sophisticated comforts of the Mustang were awfully tempting - the backup camera, keyless entry, pushbutton start, etc. And the quality of interior materials is considerably nicer. Strangely the backseat of the 500 is considerably more comfortable than in a Mustang - more knee and head room.

All in all they're both very fun. Neither should really be considered with practicality in mind. But fuel economy and parking considerations would give the 500 a substantial advantage. Furthermore my insurance bills will be $500 less per year than with my 2010 Prius.

The only remaining worry is the Fiat 500's macho deficit. While I was living in Germany I told my then girlfriend that I was test-driving a Fiat 500 with the 1.3 liter Multijet Diesel Turbo. She made her withering contempt clear and suggested I get a pony-tail and skirt if I drive that. And few weeks later the cute little Fiat 500 was crowned "Gay Car of the Year."

Well if the gays can have great taste in fashion and music, why not great taste in cars too? I'll get my Kylie Minogue and Lady Gaga mixes (I really do love that stuff) and see y'all at Pride Week I guess. Watch out Capitol Hill, here I come!

So showing I have no insecurity about my masculinity might actually make me look tougher than if I were just driving that Mustang GT? Who knew getting and looking "tough" could be as fun and easy as driving a Fiat 500.

The 500 is a fun car. And you will totally enjoy it. That's all that needs to be known!

We just bought a GQ and got a great deal. I would say that 24k is high. You can definitely get it for less than that. Closer to 20k is very doable. Good luck!

    Too late.

Now I know it might have been possible.

Perhaps you kind souls would be so kind to walk me through how you negotiated.

I found the car I wanted in Portland, OR. The local dealer near me here in Seattle offered me the same vehicle, but in black for 1000 less. I wanted the white one in Portland and asked the Portland dealer to beat the Seattle price. http://www.mcloughlinfiat.com/new/FI...02a7713319.htm

With resistance they reluctantly matched the Seattle price. I go down to pick it up Tuesday.

How could I have done it better? Next time!

The Abarth C is one hell of a good looking and fun car. You will not be disappointed when you stand out from the sea of Mustangs... bleh..

Around here in Seattle, 500s are far from rare. I'm not doing it to stand out. I'm getting it because the little one is athletic and agile like a lithe Cirque du Soleil acrobat. It's fun to be able to move without limits.

The Mustang might be attractive too, but more like a body-building meathead.

I'd rather be the acrobat than the meathead, no matter what the chicas think.

I have a 500 Abarth AND a Mustang GT. I enjoy both of them very much in their own very different ways. It's a win/win scenario.

Congrats to your purchase. I was in the same boat about 3 months ago and I tested 5 different 15' Mustang all engine version. They are great cars but there was just something missing in them. I love my Abarth and love the lower payments. These little devils are fun as hell.

    Congrats and welcome!

Some folks find the awesome deals, and some don't. It's all in timing and location and rebates and sales.

When I was looking, I waited too long to get the good deals. Ended up paying almost as much for my sun roofed Lounge as you're paying for your Abarth GQ convertible. And my car is a 2013, bought in 2012. So, YOU got the good deal, as far as I'm concerned.

Your new car is gorgeous. I really like the black/white combo, with the white on the seats and steering wheel. And the red-accented wheels will be a nice touch.

I'm sure you've looked around the forum and have read about how many people switched over from more powerful cars to the Fiat Abarth. It's the fun factor. There's something about the shape, the engines, the transmissions, design, of the Fiat that reaches in and bypasses all the build-up of years of advertising and reaches that sweet soul of our childhood that squealed in delight over riding a tricycle or coasting down a hill on a bicycle.

Fiat doesn't advertise it that way, but that's what I feel. The fun-size car that looks fun just sitting there. But it's a lot more sophisticated than anything from childhood.
