    Bike Rack for Abarth Cabrio

    Howdy, y'all!
    I have a 2014 500GQ Edition (essentially an Abarth Cabrio with - sadly - a muffler.
    I need a bicycle rack.
Most solutions I've researched suggest a hitch-mounted carrier.
However, I have questions whether hitch-mounted carrier will work given that this model has dual exhaust and a rear diffuser.
I'd prefer a roof mounted solution.
Barring that, I'd rather not have to remove rear diffuser or - gasp - convert to single exhaust (b/c I DO plan to "remedy" the muffler situation and get back my Abarth growl).
Anyone have suggestions? I appreciate the help!

    Thanks

I have a hitch on my '13 Abarth Cabrio, it required a small notch to be made in the diffuser that isn't noticeable unless you're looking underneath. No issues with any part of the exhaust setup.

    Thanks for your response, FSTCS6.
I'd rather avoid modding the diffuser, if I can.
If you're willing, can you post pictures of your install?

    Thanks!

Just posted this days ago in another thread with the same question:
My daughter has the Hollywood Racks - Express 2 Two Bike Trunk Rack for her cabrio. Their fitment guide says to use a trailer hitch model with the 500c, but the trunk rack works fine. You just need to be careful attaching the clips to the trunk lid below the soft top trim. Also, to avoid getting your bumper all dinged up, it's a good idea to have a couple of bungee cords to hold the bike handlebars & front wheel parallel with the back of the car. The unit folds up and fits neatly in the trunk when not in use.

I have the Curt hitch as well. FST is right. It only requires a minor cut to the diffuser, and you won't notice anything different from looking at it. The hitch mounted carrier is the right way to go with this vehicle.

    Cool!

I'll check out the Curt hitch racks.
Checking what Mopar offers, regarding bike racks, they sell the Thule Vertex 9028, Mopar part# THVE9028.

    Do you have pictures?

    Thanks!

Sorry, I don't have a pic and the Abarth is parked sideways in the garage...tail to the wall until spring.

Has a GQ Edition hitch receiver been made yet?

    All,

I know this an old thread but it seems there are no options for the GQ edition. I am the new proud owner of a 14 GQ Edition and the muffler fills all the space behind the wheels. I have contacted a couple of trailer hitch companies and they make them for the Abarth, but not for the GQ. While I would love to just install the Abarth muffler as who doesn't love snap, crackle and pop. My neighbor is the answer to that question.

So since this thread was 'completed' has anyone found a hitch receiver for the GQ Edition.

I have done quite a bit of searching online and in this forum and just can't seem to find an option.

Any and all ideas are welcome. I have figured out a way to carry my bike using a trunk mounted bike rack but I don't like the way I have to strap it in place nor how it seems to pull on the trunk lid when there is weight.

And...this illustrates why we are "stuck" with the L vs a fun cabrio Ain't strapping a $2000 bike on the back of a car.
