So a friend of mine was driving home from work while it was raining the other night and he was caught in a minor mudslide. The car malfunctioned and dropped battery power after driving through the mud. It was towed to the dealer and they looked at it today and said that the battery shield had a small dent in it and it must have ruptured the battery. The dealer is trying to get exact numbers since they've never replaced one but last time it was talked about was while the techs were in school and it was in the $16,000 range. If it's that expensive shouldn't it be shielded better or is the dealer looking to get a nice check for an insurance job? They keep pushing my friend to file a claim saying that it won't be covered under the warranty. I'll have pics tomorrow when he stops by the dealer.
