Cool Building up a replica of my Fiat 500 Abarth.

Looking for a winter project, a few weeks ago I bought this Fujimi kit in 1/24 to build a replica as close apossible of my 2013 Fiat 500 Abarth.

This is the kit in question:

Because it's euro specs, some compromises had to be made, the wheels are not exactly the same, the front bumper and tailgate are slightly different among other details, but, since there's no other choise, it will be close enough.

The first problem, the kit comes with the door guards from the Lounge.

They have to go! And after an hour of careful filing and sanding, doors are now perfectly smooth!

Other problem with the body, the roof has the sunroof outline.

Since my Abarth has no sunroof I had to recreate the plastic railings and the sunroof division will need to be filled with putty.

And here is the ralings finished. There are some minor defects that will be corrected when the model is primered and sanded. Once painted, it won't be noticeable.

That's where I am so far. I will be updating this thread as the work advances.

Thanks for showing the full kit, I've been wondering if it had a engine bay or not. I've got 2 classic Abarths from 2 different brands that I'll be doing this winter. One will be a old replica of my new one and the other will be totally original. Good luck with your project and I'm looking forward to the finished product!

    Day 1 Continued.

I took the day to do paint most of the black parts and decided to do the interior.

Added the boost gauge as the kit didn't had one.

That will be all for this week. I am stuck as I need to buy a spray paint that matches the original Grigio.

I made that kit as well!

The wheels are completely wrong though; the spokes are correct but they're P4 cinturatos in 15". I have a recipe for the 17" rim shade, its a touch more purple than it should be though.

Very clever work so far. I love models too. Didn't even know any model existed of the Abarth, will have to look on-line and see if I can find one. I bought one of the scale model metal pre-built "toy" Abarth's. It's exactly like my car, right down to red, red/black interior, no sun roof, white mirror caps/stripe, but the wheels are all wrong, it appears to have the stock rims vs. my white 17". Have it on my shelf of other collectables.

Will follow your thread, to see how you come along with your model, got my interest going.
