    Electric Vehicle System warning light

Thought I'd keep a log on this one.

At about 500 miles the EV warning light came on when I started the car, the car entered limp mode and stopped. After about 10min I was able to restart without limp mode and seemed to work fine, and the warning light cleared up after about 10 restarts. This was on a hot day with the car parked in the sun, thought it could be battery temp related.

At 2500 miles, EV warning light came on when I started the car, did NOT enter limp mode, seemed to work fine. Indicator light cleared up after about 10 restarts. This happened in cool weather, rainstorm.

Mine did something similar, but instead of hoping the problem fixes itself I had them flatbed to dealership. They say it needs a software update and it will take three weeks.

Interesting that you mention the rainstorm.

Mine happened the day after I washed the car for the first time and put it in the garage for the night. Just a regular hose. Nothing intrusive. This was at about 1100 miles on the odometer.

Did your car get wet the first time? Car wash?

At about 4300 miles I got the "goalpost" charging error, the car would not accept a charge. Got a "service charger" error message (can't remember exactly what it said). I cycled the power with the key 10 times and that cleared the error message and I was able to charge again. Driven 300 miles since then without a problem.

The problem won't fix itself. The studio can fix it. Mine has been flawless since I had fixed.

At about 6400miles got another charging error. Drove it to work, tried to charge it there but got goalposts. Cycled keystart 10+ times but did not appear to reset, but at the end of the day I drove it back home and tried to charge and the error cleared. Now that I think about it, the same thing happened the prior time-- after cycling the key 10+ times it took some time for the error to clear. I'm not 100% convinced cycling the keystart is clearing the error vs. just passage of time, so next time I'll skip that step, wait a few days and see if the error is still there. If so, then I'll try the cycle.

Remember, you must wait until you hear the "clunk" from the contacts closing in the onboard charger before plugging into any charger cord, which occurs at about 10 seconds after you remove the key from the ignition. If you plug in before that happens, you will get the goalposts and an error message.

Good tip thanks-- but in my case I plug in hours after I park the car at home.

I think we might have a new record here. I have only about 220 miles on my car when my electrical system problem light came on and subsequently limp mode. Interesting enough, it occurred overnight as I got into the car to drive out of my garage in the morning. The charging system was showing many blinking lights in the morning (more than usual) and that threw me off that something was wrong after charging the night before. I read that if you disconnect the 12V positive connection for 60 seconds then it might restart so I did that. The results are that the vehicle electrical system error is still there and now the car won't even go into gear. Not sure what to do here. I guess I have to call Fiat to find a way to get it out of my garage and take it away.

About 3 days ago, I changed to 35w HID bulbs, do you think this might have caused it? It seemed to be fine for the 3 days before that. I will have to probably take it out before giving the car to the dealer though. What a PITA to take those back out.
