OK, you press and HOLD the refresh until it tries to communicate with the car, it will warn you that it might take up to 5 minutes.

    Post your results.

Pairing the phone with the car has NOTHING to do with the app...

The app talks to the internet, either by wi-fi or broadband data.... then that request goes to the "fiat servers" whereever they are...

Then the server uses T-Mobile SMS text messaging to talk to the car.

Your fiat app NEVER talks to the car directly.

There's nothing wrong with your app... also, if you MUST try re-installing it, make sure all the user data is gone... you will know because it will forget your user login... i.e. if you reinstall and it does NOT ask for your user login, you did not uninstall and clean it out entirely.

Bob, if you are in carlsbad, email me at greg@elmassian.com ... I'll give you my cell phone number and help you. If it gets worse, we can meet at a Starbucks close by...

    Erica & Greg,

After starting and stopping my car at the airport and then once I reached home the APP was working again. It is a helpful tool. Thanks for all the advice/help.
Gregg, I will contact you offline.

First post here. Just got my 500e this past weekend. Press and hold the refresh fixed it for me! Thanks!

My range miles and charging status on the app is stuck. I tried reloading the app and pressing the refresh button, but nothing works. Seems like the location information works.
Any other tips? Is this a Fiat server issue? Thanks!

Does the little wheel continue to turn? If so WAIT!.... it will eventually do something, wait at least 8 minutes.

Thanks, Greg. The wheels spins for about 5 minutes and then I get a "Could not update the vehicle status; Timeout occured." error message. Any other suggestions?

That means the server could not reach the car.

Usually that means the car is in a bad reception area.

Go somewhere else, and try.... my driveway is a bad reception area, so I often cannot get the response.

If you cannot get it to update anywhere, then you probably need the "access module" replaced in your car...

My car had a problem recently as well - last update was 4/1 and no magic on the app did anything. To confirm, I called the Fiat Care # where they could tell the car was not communicating at all and told me to take it in to have the modem reset... instead I removed the ground (negative) cable from the 12v battery for about 1 minute. Had to reset the clock and stuff but that also reset the modem and it's been fine since. Reboot basically...

Just like every other microprocessor-controlled device in our lives, phone, tv, computer, etc., needs a reboot and software update.
