    2013 Abarth Cabrio Used Pricing

    Hello,
Thinking about selling my Rosso 2013 Abarth Cabrio with black and red leather interior and wanted to see what pricing should be on this car. The car is in amazing condition and is hand washed every weekend. I've seen some discussion about heavy discount on new 2013's still out there. I just hit 9,000 miles on the odometer and she's about 9 months old. The car has every factory available option and had an MSRP of $31,600. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I can get pictures upon request.

I picked up my 2013 Rosso Cabrio for $21k off the new Studio lot. MSRP was $28.5k. Not sure this helps, but I bought it in late March.

$31,600 ouch, I think you'll lose a lot here as the example above shows. A new one can be had for nearly $10K less, add to that the 9K miles on it and you're going to take a decent hit. If you do sale though I wish you luck in doing so and hopefully you'll get a decent amount.

Yeah, it all does help. Put's perspective on the market. These Fiat's really don't their value very well. You would think I would have learned by now being that this is my 3rd one.

Values starting dropping once the pay one price went out the window when Soave left and the dealers started to choke. Originally there were to be highly trained dealers providing a special buying experience with a beautiful facility. Salespeople were going to know the cars and demonstrate all the features and value built into the car to justify the price. That changed and a more mainstream American car buying experience took over with deep discounts. It has hurt the resale value. Hopefully they can get a handle on this.

That's a shame. My personal Studio, Benson Fiat in Greer, SC - is a place of high quality buying experience, knowledgeable staff, knows all the nuances of what they sell, etc. Have bought 3 cars from them since the end of January, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend anyone to them considering a Fiat.

Guess it depends where you live, and what kind of Studio you have access to.

You're right. Some dealers do a great job. Like anything else, it is the weak ones that drag down the average. The 500 has so many features and attributes there is nothing on the market like it. It is worth every penny. However some dealers don't want to put the effort into talking about all the engineering and design that went into the car and just want to take the easy way out and give a discount like it is some cheap economy car. It's not the way to sell this car and they need to fix that quickly. They were able to do that with Jeep when they were discounting Wranglers during the bankruptcy and then stopped once the company got back on its feet. Now you never get deep discounts on Wranglers. When they get rid of the huge incentives on Fiats the resale value should recover somewhat.

I agree with what you just wrote, well said. I feel for those that have to deal with the "crappy" dealers. The way Fiat intended it to be, the Studio's were suppose to be a unique buying place, where an intelligent product would basically sell itself to the customer, after they were properly educated about the new Fiat, both the company and the product.

I am totally convinced, that if people would only come to a good Studio, and see for themselves, it could spell a loss of sales for the likes of Honda, Toyota, etc. There's so much value and quality and innovation in the new Fiats, across the range. Plus with a decent 4 year/50k bumper to bumper warranty, and with most Studio's throwing in 3 years of servicing, etc, there's not even much of a risk to someone new to our brand. Even a basic, stock, not loaded Pop, is a tremendous value for what someone would be getting. Plus you are not getting another generic boring cookie-cutter car, that after a while, starts looking alike.

Wish the poorer ran Studios would get their act together for the good and longevity of the brand. Hoping in the long run, Fiat will not settle for less.

back to your original question: have you checked on-line with Edmund's or Kelly Blue Book? Be sure to look for trade-in value, as any retail price will be overstated considering the sheer number of unsold 2013's still on the dealer's lot. I know that's not you want to hear. Also, go to any Car Max site, there's loads of used 2013 Abarths for sell, depending on the part of the country you live in. That will give you the highest price a dealer is expecting to get. They say they don't come down on listed prices, but I know from past experience, that isn't really true, there's always room to negotiate. Hope you can recover what you seem to be expecting.

21k-23k is what you should expect. 16k on a trade in.

I recently paid $22,500 for an 2013 "executive" demo with 10k on the clock. Technically, it was still a new vehicle. The cabrio was loaded and listed for $31,600. I was able to find some excellent deals on "regular" 2013 Abarths but none on loaded cabrios. I felt that a demo had a bit more value than a used one since the dealer kept it in tip-top condition. I have not regretted the purchase and feel that the deal was fair. My only problem is recent temps in the upper 90's have made top down driving a wee bit toasty!!
