SPORT mode problem / running rough?!

Ok, I've hit my first issue after 75000km..... I'll make it short!

SPORT off = runs great (mods installed and stock)

SPORT on = awful (mods installed and stock)
Under 3500rpm it's fine, idles fine, starts fine, slow acceleration/gentle throttle fine.
Over 3500rpm at 80-100% throttle it jerks, misses, machine gun popping exhaust, no acceleration, coughs and splutters and is all round running crap. If I back off a little then gently throttle back on it's ok but in SPORT mode it just won't run above 3500rpm when pushed. No CEL and no stored or pending codes!

I've looked for anything loose, checked plugs (changed at 52k), ran fuel cleaner through, changed intake in the meantime but I'm out of ideas. It's almost like its "forgotten" it's SPORT tune!

Anyone else had this? Any ideas as it's dull without my lovely SPORT button?!

    Cheers

Sounds like an ignition or timing issue...could be a failed coil? Could be many other things also ...hope you get it figured out.

No. Bad coil, or bad plugs, or any other mechanical issue would show up in both sport and non-sport modes.

    Have you reset the ECU?

I'm not a technician but I will say yes. I have seen bmw's that ran fine until tuned and then misfire issues caused by a faulty coil or spark plug came to light under heavy accelleration. Sport mode is basically a tune. Surprised you haven't gotten a cell though.

Yeah Stacey I did a reset but no joy. It just suddenly started one day, id not changed anything for ages. Maybe ill get the stealership to reflash the pcm in case something has messed up in the program. Its so weird i get no warnings at all

That's wacky. Why is the sport button involved and why the magical speed of 35 ? I certainly would love to hear outcome.

Very weird. From the sounds of it, I'd say the problems is electronic. You have any
Pending codes? Hope you get it fixed.
