HOW TO: How to remove the stock seatbelts from your Fiat

Here is a HOW TO on removing your seatbelts from your Fiat. This information was provided by ALLDATA and also performed by us to verify. We are including pictures on how to release the front seat belt anchor latch plate from the anchor buckle (the most difficult part).

    1. Disconnect and isolate the negative cable from the battery. Wait 15 minutes (just as a precaution) for the system capacitor to discharge before further service.
    2. Adjust the front seat to its most forward position for easiest access to the front seat belt lower anchor buckle and the B-pillar trim.
    3. Disconnect the front seat belt lower anchor latch plate from the anchor buckle. This is easier with two people but can be done by yourself (might be a little more difficult). Details with pictures below:

Remove the felt piece covering the buckle and you will see two screws. Remove them with a Size 10 Torx Bit

Here is what you need to remove the latch plate from the buckle: Size 10 Torx Bit and two small flat head screwdrivers

The opening closest to the left is the first access point.

This is the 2nd access point to release the latch plate from the buckle

This is with the cover removed. You do not have to do this step but it will make it easer for you to actually release the latch plate.

Step 1: Insert the screwdriver into the access point at the top of the buckle. Once in, move the handle of the driver away (left) of the buckle, causing the flathead to move the white plastic component to release (you should hear a faint "click")

Step 2: Insert the other screwdriver into the access point on the side of the buckle (with the other screwdriver still in position on the top access point) and press the black plastic release.

With the black plastic released, you should be able to remove the latch plate. Make sure you don't have any tension from the belt to make it easier.

    4. Remove the upper trim from the inside of the B-pillar.
    5. Pull the front seat belt lower anchor through the seat belt opening in the upper B-pillar trim.
    6. Remove the screw that secures the front seat belt turning loop to the trim support bracket on the upper inner B-pillar.
    7. Remove the seat belt turning loop from the B-pillar.
    8. Remove the lower trim from the inside of the B-pillar.
    9. Disengage the retainer that secures the retractor wiring to the inner B-pillar. (CAUTION: BE VERY CAREFUL DISCONNECTING THIS AS IT CAN BREAK WHICH COULD BE COSTLY TO FIX)
    10. Remove the screw that secures the retractor lower bracket to the base of the inner B-pillar.
    11. Pull the retractor away from the B-pillar far enough to access and disconnect the yellow body wire harness connector from the seat belt tensioner initiator on the retractor. (CAUTION: AGAIN BE CAREFUL WITH DISCONNECTING)
    12. On the passenger side only, disconnect the yellow body wire harness connector from the adaptive tension limiter initiator on the retractor.
    13. Remove the front seat belt and retractor from the vehicle as a unit.

To install your new seatbelts, simply perform in reverse order.
