    1954 Fiat Turbina Concept

Back in 1954, Fiat was experimenting with a triple turbine engine design. It attained an astounding 155 mph. This particular design is quite beautiful, especially for its time. Pity that only one was ever produced. Thankfully, this one still lives at the Fiat auto museum in Italy. Better if it were in my garage though !

Here's a link to more information about the car.

It should be the case that every Italian automobile enthusiast get to go to a car museum in Italy at least once in their life! Thanks for posting this, Thad.

The car is not at the Fiat museum. It is at the http://www.museoauto.it/website/
You can easily spend a day inside this place. Amazing.
Dig through this bucket of my pics from a Turin visit in 2009. http://s305.photobucket.com/user/tha...y%202009/Turin

It was 63 that Chrysler did their turbine car, wasn't it? I had no idea Fiat had tread there a decade prior.

That's true, but if I'm not mistaken, Fiat began the turbine experiments as early as 1949. They never actually got 4 wheels around the power train until the Turbina though.

OH, and Thad, I've been through your photo bucket tours several times and have been totally impressed every time!! Thanks for posting them since, at this point in my life, getting to Italy for a first hand tour is looking like a pretty slim possibility.
