You only live once - just do it!
The first two were very successful and Brett is making sure this one will be even better!

    Registered and paid.

I voted for the Smokey mountain loop on Friday so we can: 1) drive more roads, but really because 2) the road from Fontana Village to Fontana Dam is my most favoritist stretch of road in that whole area.

Cool, glad to see another ex-R53 MINI owner rocking an Abarth. It seems to be a fairly natural transition once MINI decided to make it a small-BMW instead of visceral hot-hatch.

What's there to be on the fence about? Not enough vacation time? It's certainly one of the cheapest fun weekends you can have, that's for sure. Don't feel threatened by the roads, you can take it at your own pace.

Oh that reminds me about a general rule-of-thumb for group drives: Let the more relaxed-pace drivers lead the pack. I know it sounds counter-intuitive, but all my years of planning and running car club drives has taught me that the group ends up acting like a big slinky; the ones in back have to really crank on it to keep up with the slow pace up front. Sounds strange but that's how it turns out in practice. Lead-foots in back, trust me you'll appreciate it!

Definitely not threatened by the roads. It'll be a good test for the Eibach Sportlines and Neu-bar I've installed but haven't tested. Plus just placed an order for rear Koni's. I think it's the 500 miles there, all the driving while there and then the 500 miles back.

We plan to have at least two separate groups of drivers that will set the pace. I see the benefit of having the slower group go ahead but it can also cause a log jam on these back roads. My thought is the either send the faster ones out first and make regular stops to keep our group together or send the slower guys out first and then wait five minutes for the faster group to head out. This way then the slower group stops to wait on us, we will all get more time at the stops.

I plan to work this out prior to the drive and we can keep it flexible.

The run through Cherokee on 441 is great. Very scenic and lots of elevation changes as it goes through the Smoky Mountain National Park. Watch out for bears though (and tourists).

If you're going I might just have to go to check out the new Rame bits. Even though it still looks better on white

Well, if there's a real slow-poke then all bets are off. (glares at the usual traffic jam of Floridians that've never seen a corner before, ahem) The lead car has to maintain at least a speed-limit-ish pace. When that happens, the whip at the back is the place for the lead-feet.
