Yup! You coming too? I just reserved my room at Tally Ho this afternoon. The very nice lady on the line said I was the 4th today making reservations with the Fiat club, LOL. Everyone get in there before the place books up!

I'm used to staying at Fontana or Tapoco, so this'll be new for me.

He had to drop his trailer about 2/3's the way up the mountain just to get back down. Those guys should really read the signs that start way, way out from the actual run.

Call it anecdotal evidence, I used to see at least one or two every trip and I haven't seen one in the seven or eight times(or more) I've visited since NC outlawed them. The semi traffic has dropped off quite a bit compared to what it used to be.

Ryan, this is a great post, thanks for pointing these things out. I have some great things planned for this spring event and will have the registration form and schedule posted soon. The plan for the weekend will be similar as times past with focus on driving amazing back roads (safely) and I plan to work in a bit more social time at the Tally Ho. Our goal here has been to build a community that loves to drive and share ideas about their cars with each other. I hope that each of us can maintain the spirit of this event for what it is, a fun weekend on the back roads of East Tennessee.

As soon as I get some of the final details worked out, I will post here and on the Facebook page. I want to reiterate what Ryan is saying, we want to have a safe, fun weekend. Please leave egos at home and respect the others on the road. Our group is building a good reputation among those who we encounter, it is the responsible behavior of our participants that has gotten us this far. Thank you!

    Stay tuned for more!

    When:
*Starts Thursday, April 3rd, 2014. Ends Sunday, April 6th

    Where:
*Tally Ho Inn is the host accommodation in Townsend, TN

    What:
*Scenic and spirited drives through the beautiful Smokey Mountains, including pre-planned routes such as the Tail of the Dragon, and Devils Triangle.

I've been to the Dragon a lot. I was one of the co-founders of the MINI's on the Dragon back in '03, and I've been at least once a year since then. There are some basics to cover:
*Weather: rain or shine. Don't be a hero and bring your racing slicks.
*Safety: Several motorcyclists die every year trying to navigate these roads, and occasionally a motorist too. These roads are dangerous. Chances are you're not as good a driver as you want to brag about to your forum-mates. #1 is being able to drive your car back home in one piece. Driving 10/10ths here is not smart, always leave some headroom for when a boar, deer, or bear decides its their road, or when a stray muscle car forgets he can't use both lanes, or a cocky sport-biker decides to cross the double yellow to pass a slow sedan and ends up in your windshield. All very common occurrences, yes seriously.
*Fun: This place is super fun, super beautiful, and super secluded. When enjoyed responsibly, it's among one of the most amazing getaway weekends you'll ever have.

To the organizers, please add fundamental things I'm forgetting!

    See you there,
    Ryan

I see Ryephile was once a Mini Cooper guy too. Nice. (I have a 2004 MCS also) So I haven't been on the forums much. But so everyone knows who I am. I was the guy in the Silver 500 T at the Dragon last year. I traded up to a White Abarth . Anyway My user name is the same on all the Fiat forums. See everyone in April.
