I have searched and found numerous posts from members with the same problem as me but no genuine solutions. (I posted this in the regular 500 forum as I have seen complaints from numerous members Abarth and non-Abarth alike)
I have a pre-owned Abarth with 19,000kms (11,800miles) and from the moment I drove it off the lot the brakes have been making noise.
The first and most frequent is a high pitched squeal when applying light brake pressure which goes away when you press harder or let off the brakes. After a couple of these it'll go away for awhile but return frequently.
The next and most disturbing is a grinding on metal noise when the car is rolling forward from a stop. It sounds like something is rubbing onto the dust shield around the rotors. This occurs less frequently.
I have taken the car back to the studio with a concern that the initial safety and inspection wasn't done correctly since I have these brakes noises as well as other issues but they said they can't find anything wrong with the car.
The front rotors also have an obvious pad mark on them. Like an outline of the pad, maybe from sitting in the same spot for too long. I noticed it when I picked up the car but figured it'd go away after awhile but over 1,000kms later it's still there.
I have a very good mechanical knowledge and have worked on many brakes for many different cars and motorcycles in the past. I have also worked at a Chrysler service department and know they don't make very good brakes but this seems to be a common issues as others have complained about it.
