It doesn't beep because you don't have an alarm. It is not standard (or a factory option) on the pop models.

Count me in for another eOwner that would prefer a no-honk option. I may pull the fuse but that is dangerous without knowing for sure what may be shared with the horn fuse...

I don't know if disabling the horn is a good solution. Safety reason?

Install a Stebel Italia air horn in the place of the OEM piece. Problem solved. It's not active long enough to honk. You'll be lucky to hear anything at all when you lock the car. I know this because I installed the same horn on my last 3 vehicles and man is it loud!

I did this on our Honda Civic back in the 80's and it was a very simple install, with plenty of space up under the car to tuck the horns. How was the install on the 500e? Do you feel like crawling under there, taking some photos and posting us a thread with some DIY guidance?

I actually think the horn on the e's is great: far "larger sounding" than the car is. The beep-on-lock is a bummer, though, especially late at night.

I have an Abarth. The horn is not installed as of yet. I am waiting for cy-clone to finalize his battery tray so it frees up some space in front of the battery. I want to mount it to the core support as I have done in the past.

I'm with the other posters. I want to disable the horn beep when locking the car, not in normal driving-down-the-street operation. Noise pollution is an issue in our world, and this behavior doesn't help.

I guess a change like this might be a software modification that could be implemented at the dealerships at time of service... just like the update/flash Fiat released for some of the early '13 cars already. Perhaps interested folks could organize an email campaign to the correct contacts at Fiat.

Or they could design it so the horn only honks if you press the lock button twice as it is with my Ford Ranger.
