Dealers don't know to enable the Fiat Access app, instructions here

    Hi There,

I, like many others so far, could not get the Fiat Access app to show any data from my 500e. A Fiat Care specialist hooked me up with a Chrysler engineer who determined that my 'telematics unit had not been taken out of transport mode' so the cellular modem was not turned on.

I went back to my dealer, Fiat of Burlingame, and their service tech said 'your car was already taken out of shipping mode'. I showed him the instructions below that I received from the Chrysler engineer and he got the Fiat Access app enabled but admitted that they did not even know about this second shipping mode to turn off and that it was not on the official check list from Fiat.

Thanks Jonathan, Joel and Harry for helping figure this out.

    Regards,
    Trent

    Instructions for Service Tech:

Use the Witec service tool to write the TCU (VTM) transport mode to “Not Active”.

    Can be found under:
Main screen > VTM > Miscellaneous

Turn the key off/on and wait 2-5 minutes.

This morning i checked my phone and the app now works. Not sure why, maybe the dealer remotely did something? Glad i did not have to drive back to the dealer and get hooked up to their computer.

I expect yours was enabled properly by the dealer and your app started working after Sprint fixed a data issue yesterday morning. But I'm just guessing.

For what it is worth I have Sprint and yesterday morning here in NC I had no signal for a few hours. Anyway, good to hear the app began working for some at least.

My 1st post and unfortunately it's the same app problem. Car has all of 650 miles and it's taken countless hours on the phone with the Fiat app group and uconnect as well as trips to two dealers to get the app up and running. No luck, but I'm not convinced they paid attention to the instructions I sent from Trent. In the shop today to see what they can do. Wish me luck!

The technician told me: "I did the exact thing last time...and after I told him to try one more time, in front of me, it works...apparently, he forgot to "click" "inactive last time and didn't turn the key off...anyway, the apps is working now

I first went back after purchase to have the modem taken out of transport mode, then, after a few days of trying to get the app to synch, it was clear that something else was going on. It was confirmed yesterday that the modem sim card is faulty ( typical reason for replacement according to the mechanic). He shared some information about the diagnostics to show that it was the sim. It will take about a month to get the part.

The Modem, VTM and sim card module. It lives under the TomTom.

He's looking for instructions to get to the module, i.e. how to open up the dash.
