7 hours is a long time, longer than my super low rate window.

Why didn't you go higher amps?

    cost?

    Huh "super low rate window"?

Cost was a factor for sure. But at 7 hours it is considerably faster than 23 hrs with the stock EVSE. Besides the best it will do is just under 4 hrs. with a 30 amp EVSE as the car only has a 24 amp charger. Most days we only need to top off the daily commute of 25 miles, so it works perfect. For $200 I don't think it can be beat.

    cheers

we have a 6 hour window of a super low electrical rate just for those of use in san diego with electric cars.

yeah, I got a 30 amp charger and validated my car draws 27 amps... cost me 358 with tax and shipping... I can and did beat your deal in my mind. my criteria is bang for the buck, not the cheapest way to go. I think your priority is lowest cost and that is fine.

    Is your electrical rate TOU?

Like I said for $200 I don't think it can be beat. There is no (new) 30 amp evse for under $400 that I was able to find when I got mine. I will never need to charge from empty, 5-6 hrs is not a big deal at all. The car is mostly used for a 25 mile round trip commute so maybe 1.5hr recharge time.

I'm happy you feel you won. Later.

I installed a Juicebox 40 Pro and Nema 14-50 on a 40A breaker. The 500e charges fine but the Juicenet app says it is only pulling 19 Amps, at 4.5KW. I can lower the max amperage in the app, but when I raise it to 32A or 40A, the max charging is still 19A. I called eMotorwerks and the tech said he thinks it's an issue with the car. He may be right, as the actual charge time at other L2 stations is 30% longer than the original estimate the car gives. Does anyone know if there is a current limit set in the car's software? Should I call Fiat? This is really more of a problem when catching a charge away from home, since it extends the waiting time. At home, over night, its not such a problem if it takes an extra hour.

What year is your car? We have a JuiceBox 40 Pro as well, and the car will charge at almost 30a.

What's the voltage when the car is at 19a?

It was a problem with the Juicebox 40 Pro. Had the service manager at eMotorwerks pick up on a similar thread on the Facebook 500e site. He had me look inside and change the setting on a trim-pot. Voila, 29.3 amps, 6.9KW.

Did you happen to take a picture of the inside of your Pro while you had it apart? I really want to "pop the top" on ours, but I didn't want to disturb the warranty sticker.

A friend has a non-pro model, and I was curious how hard it would be to retrofit the wifi portion.
