Can't seem to find oil drain plug torque specs? Anyone know specifics other than "tight enough but not too tight"?

It is just BS that oil drain plug torque spec is Top Secret or unknown.
For the record, I torqued to 27 lb/ft. My Abarth took 4.25 qts (hot) to get the oil level to the top of the dipstick.
The built in rubber washer on the plug (stupid idea) will probably degrade/wear so I plan to replace the entire plug every 3 or so oil changes (or earlier if it visually looks degraded/damaged).Tie Your shoes, Drive your car, Love your girl. -WP

I'll check the service manual tonight. I was out last night.

From the 2012 Abarth Service Manual
Install the drain plug in the oil pan and tighten to 27 N·m (20 ft. lbs.).- Top

Thanks. I over-tightened by 7lb ft. Probably not enough to damage things but I like to be precise when I am tightening things up. I always use a torque wrench but that does not help if the specs are not available. Someone should probably sticky this because 20 lb/ft is considerably less than the common 30-33 lb/ft.Tie Your shoes, Drive your car, Love your girl. -WP

Thanks for the info....a seemingly minor detail, but important. I had one oil change on my wife's car years ago at a store (rhymes with Wal-Mart) that over-tightened the plug so much that I couldn't get it off at home. Took it to the local independent mechanic, and they said they could loosen it and not be responsible if it ruined the oil pan or I could take it back and complain to the Wal Mart guys. Luckily they managed to change it out OK, but again, there is a reason to use the right torque!2013 Rosso Abarth with 68K miles, Koni yellow shocks, Madness springs, Neu-f rear sway bar, EBC Yellowstuff brake pads, DOT4 brake fluid, K&N air filter, autocross 17 inch Ciao Milano wheels with Bridgestone Potenza RE71R, daily wheels stock 16 inch Dunlop DZ102. 2017 1st place HS Tidewater Sports Car Club: 2016-2015 1st Place TSCC GS class; 2014-2013: 2nd place in SCCA South Carolina Region G Stock.
