Fiat 500 USA Forum - Fiat 500 Turbo General Discussions http://www.fiat500usaforum.com/ en Fri, 09 Jun 2023 07:37:32 GMT vBulletin 30 http://www.fiat500usaforum.com/images/misc/rss.png Fiat 500 USA Forum - Fiat 500 Turbo General Discussions http://www.fiat500usaforum.com/ considering 2013-2015 turbo/sport, what to look for? http://www.fiat500usaforum.com/showthread.php?40237-considering-2013-2015-turbo-sport-what-to-look-for&goto=newpost Mon, 05 Jun 2023 23:03:42 GMT
On my second 2014 500e still going strong with no issues, considering buying a used gas engine version. I like the "size"...but still need to drive the non e version and am not (yet) set on the engine or transmission. What I see currently are 2013-15 with 80k-120k miles on it, I don't expect to put more than say 3k on it per year and am looking for a simple easy to maintain not expensive car that complement the 500e for longer drives

- reliability: are they now being sold cause they start falling apart?
- what major repairs should I expect?
maintenance schedule says 10y for coolant replacement, so that would be a definite to do
timing belt should be good for another many miles
anything else?

- Turbo vs base engine: lots more power, more complicated, more to break
I am thinking the Turbo is probably the nicer way to go?
Turbo milage: seems quite crappy compared to the base...is it really that bad? [e.g. 34 mpg on highway for a tiny car like this is really not that hot)

- manual vs automatic
all I read is the auto is crappy...I kinda remember driving stick, though the lazy in me dreads the idea

And lastly, what else do I overlook when buying a car with such milage? I will want to have my car mechanic look it over if possible...look for oil leaks etc.

Thoughts?
