Chipbox vs. OSG Tune. http://www.fiat500usaforum.com/showthread.php?39812-Want-more-HP-Chipbox-vs-OSG-Tune&goto=newpost Fri, 18 Nov 2022 04:28:19 GMT
Chipbox vs. OSG tune?
There are pros and cons to both.
Let's start with the Chipbox. On your vehicle you will add about 24 hp and 46nm of torque. Price for basic model is presently $429.95 and takes about one hour to install. It is Made in Italy, comes with a 3 year warranty and is TUV approved. We have been offering these for about 6 years and I can personally tell you that they give you instant, smooth linear power right out of the box. The nice thing about the Chipbox is it comes with a bypass plug so if you are going to the dealer or state inspection you can put your engine back to stock in about one minute. If you have other mods say a intake or larger intercooler the Chipbox will adapt to it. It does not leave a footprint on your ECU like a tune and when you go to sell your car you can remove it and resell it. The only downside is if you add a larger turbo or want in excess of 25hp or more you will need to go to a tune but for your money I would recommend a Chipbox.
There are a few good tuners in America with excellent experience for your vehicle. I have driven most so I can tell you first hand my preferences. Old School Garage or OSG is one of the largest tuners for Fiats in Italy tuning about 800 vehicles per year. They tune more Fiats than anybody in the world and probably 5 times greater than any tuner in America. Their tuner is Dotto Giotto of Torino. I have personally visited them and earlier this year Dotto traveled to our shop in Florida and lived with me for a week. So what is the difference between a OSG tune and others. For one passion.....Dotto is one of the nicest people you will ever meet......he cares....he cares about you and your car.....he wants you happy. When we tune a vehicle we insist on data logs. This is something other tuners may not insist on but we do. Why? When you tune a car remotely the tuner has no way of knowing how your engine is responding. A tune consists of adjusting air, fuel, timing and in some cases boost in turbo vehicles and then make sure it is done so in a safe manner and that your engine has no knocking.
After you install the tune we ask you take data logs. You need a special software to do this. We offer Multiecuscan. You install this onto your laptop and connect via cable to your ECU. We then give you 8 parameters that we want you to take. We ask you to do a run in 2nd gear from 2,000-6,000 rpm at 100% throttle....you save that log....then you do the same in 3rd gear and again in 4th gear. You send us the 3 logs. We then give them to Dotto who analyzes them and makes adjustments to your tune. In some cases he sees something that needs a change and in other cases you may say hey....I need more power. We retune your file, send it back to you, you reinstall it into your ECU and start the process all over again until you are happy and Dotto is happy that your tune is safe for years to come. A OSG tune will give you 25-35hp depending on your mods and on 93 octane fuel. They are capable of tuning on E85 as well. The real downside is the tune is permanent and even thou you can tune your car back to stock you are unable to sell the tune since it is registered to your specific vehicle.
Many of you may be new to this and some would like extra power while others may not. That is entirely up to you but if you have any questions we are here to help. You may reach me weekdays at 239-676-5934 or visit our website: www.dicorse.com
We are here to serve you.
