So, I have been noticing for a while now that I can smell burning oil when I come to a stop. It can't be a lot, because the level on the dipstick remains good. But it started getting a little more consistent lately, and plus I got one of those private warranties when I bought it used. Not knowing quite where to take it, I called my local Maserati & Alfa Romeo dealership. Do you do repairs on your corporate cousins, these Fiats? They do. They are, like, 6 miles away, and I have this warranty, so I figured why not.

Well, folks, they tell me there are leaks in the area of the thermostat, the PCV, and the gaskets (I'm no mechanic, just took these down quickly as the lady in service rattled them off). Only the one near the thermostat is covered by the warranty place. If I want to fix absolutely everything? It's gonna be $3,000. Apparently, something in here is a bitch to get to, because it's rated as 12 hours of labor, which is what is running the cost so high. Has anybody else experienced this? Does anybody know a good European mechanic in the greater Philadelphia area I could take it to? I'm almost for sure not going to get the whole thing done at the dealership. There HAS TO BE somewhere cheaper for this work. Or.... Would you just keep driving it as-is? It is truly not leaking much oil at all.
