Hello everyone, it's been an extremely long time since I've been on here; and I hate to come back on here talking about a problem with my Mom's car, but it was a major one. We've been getting a lot of rain down here in SoCal, and my Mom had to park her car outside. Now some of you may know that what when you roll the windows up, if you let go of the switch too early, the window will appear that it's up, but on the outside it'll be partially open (you can see where this is going). The passenger window was in that position overnight a few days ago and water got in. The carpet in the backseat was SOAKED, and the passenger seat had some dirt spots on it. We tried a vacuum to suck up the water, it worked ok. There was a horrible moldy smell inside. We ended up having to cut part of the carpet (felt) out and found mold on the foam underneath, and found standing water on the floor board. We cut a huge section of it out and the smell is gone. But now we have part of the interior with no carpet and an exposed floor, and are curious as to what needs to come off now to replace it. The car has 80k mi now, we just had the drivers CV axle replaced, and I'm getting concerned about the timing belt as the car is nearing 9 years old and living in California with a belt driven engine that naturally runs hot, of the belt becoming brittle.
