Everyone was fascinated by jet fighters and it made its way into car designs... from hood ornaments, design elements, and to fins.
Many US car enthusiasts remember the Chrysler Turbine car. It was (per ledgend) the inspiration for the original Batmobile. Most have never seen Fiat's Turbine car, a beautiful car even w/o the unique drivetrain. Consider that development began in 1949, it wasn't the first but certainly prettier than the others.
This is Rover's 1950 car vs the 1954 Turbina. Parphrasing BTTF, "The way I see it, if you're going to build a Turbine car, why not do it with some style."

The first car, the 1974 X1/23, was an interesting design. Think back to 1974 EVs. Too bad they didn't pop in their 500 engine.
]]>Over 50 years ago, Fiat also built ESVs... Exerimental Safety Vehicles. They look odd but the test cars were safer than anything put into production. Some of the features are found in our Fiats.
Even the tiniest Fiat, designed at 1500 pounds, was redone. I'd like to own the final (5th) model at the end of the video.
