A great forum discussion going on about getting a spare tire for the Fiat 500...

Ok Guys and Girls I have some info for you.

Here is a list of the parts that I know of as of right now. I do believe there is some bolts and a nut that is not on here. Not sure if it comes with the parts themselves.
Also I don't have the part number for the Tire or the Rim as of right this moment.

    Cost QTY Price

    FI68073958-AA Hold Down $6.80 1 $15.30
    FI68073959-AA Hold Down $6.80 1 $15.30
    FI68073631-AA JACK $34.60 1 $77.85
    FI68073961-AA Hold Down $2.10 1 $6.30
    FI68073957-AD Winch $104.00 1 $208.00

This is what I have as of right now that is installed on my PE370. As soon as I can get back to the dealer and find out if the hardware is included along with the part numbers for the Rim and Spare tire I will get them to you.

    Chris

Found out that the 'TireFit' sealant alone is $68 for a 400ml bottle! I bought the spare, etc. Ran me about $500 parts and installation. I have a new, complete, unused TireFit kit (pump and sealant) on eBay (item ID: 180901828028), bids starting at $60.00.

found a kit on ebay under 300.00 shipping and all, easy to install yourself. still cant believe they don't install a spare or at least offer it as a option.

      @Big Bill

It is offered as an option - my Lounge did not have it installed at the factory but my Mom's did.

Gordon welcome to the forum and the Fiat family. Mine came with an option called 21a, I think that's the dealers option code to order the spare tire with the car.

Just purchased a pre-loved Fiat 500 Pop with 35k miles. Last Fiat in our family belonged to my sister back in the '60s. Never thought I would be in such an elite group! Have to find a lounge and check for a spare tire. Hope she holds well in the snow. Ciao bella!

Having ordered one, I would recommend having it installed. It's kind of a pain to be up under there and fitting the lowering mechanism.

know if this is available to have put on an abarth?

It is my understanding that the spare tire kits do not fit on Abarths because of the tailpipe.

I live in a somewhat remote area on the central Oregon coast. The sealant kit and compressor is not enough if you are too far away from a town. So I ordered a new steel wheel from ebay for 45 dollars plus 18 dollars shipping. Then I found an original Firestone tire with 55 percent tread, and that was 45 dollars with free shipping. For about $108 I'm good to go. One does not dare go without a full spare out here considering all the road hazards, rock slides, down trees, long distances to the next town, etc. The inconvenience of having the tire in the back with one seat folded down is worth it, considering the risks. No one rides in the back seat around here anyway, and one back seat is still vacant. The spare is clean and new, and is in a plastic bag. No problem, and I still have the sealant kit, too.
