Hey guys!!..

My car shifts just fine, but I'm wondering if it is normal for my Shift Knob to shake upon Acceleration & Deceleration.. Mostly in 2nd Gear! I never rest my hand on the shifter, but I can visually see it shaking. My car now has 5700 miles on the clock BTW.

Thanks

your shifter is connected semi-solidly (tensioned cables with bushings) to the transmission, which is most definitely vibration and otherwise moving around, so probably, yes. i've also noticed that all the "soft tissue" bushing connecting and springs in the shifter linkage are notably soft, as well as a fair amount of play in the ball-joint housing at the base of the shift lever. in short, yah, pretty normal. no worries.

that said, the usual rules apply. no pressure on the shift level unless actively shifting; always shift at a comfortable speed for the synchros, and use smooth singular motions with the base of your palm to actuate the level to and fro, while the left and right heels of your palm should be the only thing applying pressure laterally.

This is normal. My dads Z does this and is stock. My Acura does this very noticeable but I've removed all of the rubber bushings with metal bushings.

My 2012 Abarth has always done a light shake in 3rd gear. Maybe a little bit in 2nd gear too, but not nearly as noticeable as the 3rd gear shake.

No complaints about 1st, 4th or 5th so I've at least got that going for me.
