So the other day after I got past the 300 mile mark in my new Abarth I wanted to see how it went from a dead stop in sport mode. So when I took off and shifted into 2nd I chirped the tires and heard a clank/ping like metal on metal sound. And now sometimes when I come to a stop I hear the clank what might I have broke or made come loose? I do have a appointment to go to the dealer on the 27th to check out what might be a dust shield problem. So I just want to know what it might me so I can give the dealer an idea of what to look for?

Could be just tolerances stacked in the wrong direction for your car allowing something like the exhaust system lightly hitting another metal piece (motor mount, body, etc.). It's worth checking out but may be more of an annoyance than a problem. I don't recall all the issues but we had a Civic that had a metallic squeal under certain acceleration situations that was partly corrected by loosening the motor mounts, applying pressure to the powertrain and then re-tightening the motor mounts.

I'm also getting this clanking sound at low speeds, when stopping and then going in reverse.

I'm not getting any clanking but a week after purchase, I was hearing that metallic rub which would indicate metal on metal or plastic on metal. Took it in and they said it was due to the car sitting on the lot so they gave it a good high speed brake test.
Did it work?

Of course not.

It's the dust shield. I know it. The world knows it. Going to have to make a return trip but since my local studio wants to develop a great relationship with me, they're giving me a great rate on my Vogtland springs install so I'll address it at that visit. This time, I'm going to make a slow left hand turn and have the service manager walk alongside the car. Gotta be patient with 'em I guess. Strangely enough, it only makes the rub on slow, left hand turns.

On this forum some other guys have reported some "clunking" type of sound coming from the top of the front shock tower, not sure what the remedy is or if there is a part that is flexing or breaking.

IM taking my car Saturday to the dealer to get it checked out and I also found rust on the inside of one of my exhaust tips so that will be another thing ill have them check out. Its seems like the dealer only has one Fiat specialist working cause since I can only do weekends they suggested this one two weeks ago. I kinda wish there was a closer dealer but im gonna give this one a chance first and see how good they are at fixing it and treating me as a good customer. Otherwise ill take my business else where.

Links to the other forum are frowned upon but in my Google search results you can see a pic of the jounce bumpers I think have been found to resolve the clunking many have experienced with their suspension.

First image shows the old and new, I do not have a part # though. (At least not at this time).

Here's the thread from a few months ago I was thinking. Includes some discussion, one guys video with the audible noise, and then on page two another persons diagnosis with a parts diagram that may be what you're having:

Part # 68073020AB STOP/BMPR-JOUNCE

Two days ago, I ordered the only two moparonlineparts.com had in stock. Didn't want to take a chance that my Jan 13 build Abarth didn't have 'em when I install my lowering springs later in May.

Well the Fiat tech guy seemed pretty cool and of course the clanking sound doesn't happen when I drive the guy around to try and get it to clank goin slow and over bumps and he actually looked around and underneath the car and made sure everything was tight. Tried to give me flak about having a oil change so early 900 miles but I want the small metal crap from break in gone. Looks like there are only gonna be about two tech for awhile so getting stuff done might take awhile or have an appointment.
