Not really a performance mod, but I think it really improves the look of the car. I replaced front and rear, took about 5 minutes per lense.

Looks nice... Have a whole pic of the side of the car?

What was the cost and was it from ebay?

Thanks.

Maybe Fiat should offer the body-color option on those? They still light up in their proper government required colors right?

Looks Good! Jonathan does nice work. I got a full set from him last year right before Christmas. I went with the white backing to help them blend in.

Here's a full side shot,

After seeing the full pic, I think if I were to do it, I would only get the front, with the black housing/surround so you can see them better...

I like the OEM red in the back...

Just my .02 cents...

I like the body color look, I think they stand out too much as they are. I night-shades mine to match the black car.

It's not about lighting "up in their proper government required colors".... it's about night reflectivity.

Your local State Safety Inspector is supposed to fail vehicles with these clear reflectors that do not meet DOT.

These are an exact copy of the oem lens. So they have the correct pattern to produce the required reflectivity. They are not the 100% clear type of lens. They are oem, sans color.

Ok... You'll notice the Front Corner Indicators are Orange, and they must Reflect Orange when hit with a Beam of Light.

Ok... You'll notice the Rear Corner Indicators are Red, and they must Reflect Red when hit with a Beam of Light.

You then tell which direction the vehicle is traveling simply by the Location of the Orange and Red Reflective Indicators.

You can swap them out.... but my point is they are not DOT Certified, and if you find that Law Abiding Inspector then he will fail the vehicle as the Law States.

They are available in a smoked/blacked out version that still transmits light at night. You can also get the metal flake to match the that of the Nero's paint.
Does any light come through the plasti dip?

They make a PlastiDip Smoke which does allow light to come through but it also depends on how much you apply obviously.

the light does come through a bit at night, i kind of wish it didn't. i could have added more coats but the painting was done during the day and no light shines through at all in the daylight. Overall, im happy with the way it came out.

Just did two light coats of VHT on mine, would only go clear on a white car.

Does anyone know how well the red front markers match the OEM rear? Would love to get some red markers to match the theme of red on my A500.

What's involved with the install? Do the fender liners need to be pulled?

Only thing that's still held me back on these is mainly not wanting to have to remove liner pieces in my parking garage (and from what I've read, is necessary). Anyone that's done the swap know the fast/easy way?

No need to remove the fender liners, just loosen and pull out of the way.

Way late reply on this one, but yes, you can easily see the light through the VHT Nightshades.

I painted mine black too (with VHT nite-shades which allows the light to shine through), I would like the clear ones better in my white car, but $200 is too much for side markers! Now I see 500Madness has these for half the price, it makes it a better option.

@ babelhoo: Do you have a garage set up with photos of your 500? It sounds like you've done some nice upgrades on it.

Right, it is not necessarily about the light. State and Federal DOT's do specify color of side marker reflectors and lighting.

Generally, the rear one is more important than the front one... in terms of DOT standards.

Right, not a big problem for me as these are NOT mandatory here (I'm from Buenos Aires), we just get these as a compulsive "bonus" as the American 500s are obviously done to meet US standards. Personally I think these look out of place, too "bicycle" like :P but, I guess there's no option.

I haven't done much, I'll post a few pictures I posted some time ago in the other forum.
