I'm all for following the manual, just did the first one around 9,000 miles after the light came on. The manual calls for up to 10,000 miles for synthetic oil, which is the same I've seen in my wife's 2011 Camry.

depends how hard you drive it, but around 8k. just don't go over 10k.

fyi. don't forget to check the oil level as it drinks some.

I did mine at 1900 miles, more of a learning than necessity. I am only using Pennzoil Ultra Euro. I am at 5,200 miles now and put about a half quart in at 4500 miles. The MOST important thing that many forget is to check the oil level BETWEEN the long intervals and to keep the level fresh. You will burn through a great deal of oil in 9,000 miles. The warranty is VOID if you damage your motor from poor maintenance regardless of "changing" your oil at the recommended oil intervals.

It depends on the year.

For 2012 cars, the oil change interval is 6 months, or the light coming on, whichever comes first. The light will come on for a 4,000 or 8,000 mile interval, depending on how the car was driven. It comes on 200 - 300 miles before the oil change is due (so 3,700 - 3,800 for a 4K oil change).

The 2013s have a 12 months interval. In them, the light comes on for a different interval. IIRC it is 5K or 10K.

No oil needs to be changed every 3K miles. That is a remanent of the 60s. Modern oils will go much longer, and full synthetic oils even longer.

:frantic4yc: I panic every time I hear someone tell another person just part of proper maintenance. Keep in mind, the intervals for changing oil are not the same thing as frequently checking and filling the lost oil normally resulting from engine use. This is still the biggest problem with understanding the lubrication system of a vehicle. I would NOT advise anyone to not change their oil more frequently than the MFG recommended service interval if they are NOT adhering to regular oil level checks just because todays oils are better. No oil is better if its not in the crankcase anyway. Anyone who differs on this needs to read the manual again....page 301.

Pennzoil Ultra Euro 5W-40 is OEM fill. Amazon is the easiest place I've found this oil...retail shops just don't carry this stuff. This oil is recommended if you are concerned about warranty.

My local Chrysler Dealer has the 5W 40 Euro Ultra Pennz oil in stock. Also, the filter. Same as Dodge Dart. I paid $7.00/qt.
