Anyone have a sense of pricing & availability beyond the broad Q2 timeframe they have provided?

I was told they're built in Mexico, so there is no long ship ride.

I was also told 'lease only' as they want the cars back quickly, so they can dispose of them without having to provide parts for a decade...

Welcome to the forum! I've dropped some hints on the blog that I've gotten from my sources. The feeling I'm getting is it may surprise a few people (in a good way ). The cars are still a little bit aways, next month may bring more news. I can tell you there are a number of executives at Fiat that are choosing a 500e for company cars (over the 500c Abarth Cabrio, even!)because the car is a blast to drive!

Isn't it being released only in California at first? or maybe I'm thinking of some other electric car from another builder.

They are already selling that fugly Mitsubishi MiEV here in Texas. I've seen EV charging stations installed around the Dallas area too. So please tell me the 500e will be available here soon! My wife's gas guzzling SRT8 has become a lawn ornament since gas(93 octane) in our area has spiked to $4.09 a gallon!

Yes, the car will be available exclusively in California. The car needs to be registered there first, but afterwards, can be brought anywhere in the county. This is in order to meet California state mandated sales requirements of zero emission vehicles. Last I heard, that was a combined total of sold between 7,500 vehicles between 2012 and 2014. That might not look like a lot, but it may not be that easy judging by traditional EV sales totals.

4.09 is cheap, relatively speaking... dream is a solar powered car charged by solar panels on my roof :) Ha! Still looking forward to that car being available here.
