Hey Chris, both of the "Read more about..." links are pointing to the 500e information.

So....The LA intro showed ONLY an automatic for the 500L...... Is this true? Certainly there is room for a 6-spd that can handle the torque in this vehicle? Please tell me that they learned SOMETHING from the launch of the original 500. There are many people here who will NOT consider an automatic, including me. Love my Abarth and thought this would let us get rid of the big car but not if it's only an auto.

Chris, manual available?

Cheers

A 6 speed manual will be available as well as the 6 speed DDCT.

Thanks. Good to know....... However, it looks like the 6-spd will NOT be available in the Lounge trim. Seems like the same mistake they made with the 500 Lounge. I enjoy luxury along with a manual. Hope they change that before it launches.

Cheers

One of the videos I posted in another thread had a reporter sitting in a 500L and he stated that it was the Lounge trim but it had the 6 speed manual. Go figure lol I guess we'll find out once they hit the deal...ahem... studios.

I'm glad to see them introduce an electric version. 80 miles on a charge does not seem like very much, but I guess that would make it to and from work for me every day. Maybe when there are more charging stations a car like that would be much more feasible.

Does anyone know if you need a special charging station at your home; and how long does a charge take to make ready to drive the 80 miles?

My understanding is that it has an onboard charging unit that plugs into a 240 volt outlet. Recharge time is about 4 hours.

My home has 220v only; not sure if I can get 240v. Any elecric gurus know how to do this/ Booster (?)

They haven't released the feature availability yet, they were still finishing it up at the time. Soon....

I have the auto 6 speed ddct it's a manual transmission that works the clutch for you with hydraulics and you can manually shift it ... There is NO TORQUE CONVERTER! It drives like an automatic but shifts like a manual dual clutch meaning no gear grinding and it rev matches the rpm to the speed for you. Sometime a bit slowly but very smoothly, then you can take over and manually shift it to get into a lower gear to rev the engine up before blasting out of a turn or passing. The nice thing about it is that it will not let you make a mistake of putting it in a gear the engine can't handle - lugging or over rev.

220/240 really the same thing - the 110 is really 120 volts and can be anywhere from 110-128 volts ... Double it for the 220/240 volts ... You should be all set. FYI slow charging is better for the batteries and usually more efficient for the charger and the house wiring.
