Holly Holmer. Thx for the Post i had no clue that the Door Panels have so much behind it. Sad to say they still scratch too easy...

Very nice. Would you mind if I reprinted this in the RICAMBI?

Pretty Awesome, Bro. I love the results! Thanks for sharing. It amazes me how you find the time to fit so many things into an already busy schedule! An ATTABOY from MrFiat for a job well done! :encouragement:

That looks great. I will see if I can have a pro do it - I'd love to use the same cloth my seats are made of in my Lounge.

Howdy

Did you consider having the outer panel covered in leather while you had it apart? The part that bothers me is the top where I rest my arm and it's as rough as cob. Perhaps there is something ou saw that makes it more complicated than the inside piece (!?). Having both pieces covered, inside with the alcantara like yours and the outer part in black leather, would be my preference.

In any case, at least I now have a good idea of what awaits!

Thanks very much.

Cheers

That was a thought but two situations would need to be addressed. First, the radio grill is part of the outer door panel and would need to be dealt with. Also, the added bulk where the leather would be folded over would also need to be looked into. Of course , anything can be done, but that mod would require a lot more creativity to come out successful.

Also, I'll let let you in on a secret. If you notice the door panel texture is raised. If the surface was embossed, it would be much less scratchy. From what I understand this was an oversight and *may* be addressed in the future.

The grille would require some kind of fabrication and would probably take this project out of the "do it yourself" category.

Thanks for the info. I'll hold off for a while in case an upgrade is available. OTOH, I never planned on doing it myself. One, I'm not that handy and two, I wouldn't want to screw it up. I'd pay to have it done correctly.

Cheers!

That's a awesome job.
May I have a question? The service person removed the door panel and fasten some bolts inside, after it was put back, there is a noticeable gap between the door panel and the door (the steel piece), the service person explained that due to the aging, the plastic bolts can no longer grab the panel as tight as before after re-installed. Do you find the same issue? thank you.
