Anyone been to a dragstrip yet?

Anyone been to a dragstrip yet?

Really curious what people are posting for 1/4 miles times and trap speeds!

I've only done starts at an autocross so the times aren't available. I started a thread in Racing about launch RPMs but it appears no one has really tried to maximize starts yet. BTW, and OT, a white Abarth is currently running mid-pack at the SCCA Solo Nationals in GS. I've asked someone to see if they would share any info on setup.

I have a friend there competing. He told me they are running 17's with Hoosiers. Not sure if they have an after market front or rear bar since that is all you are allowed in stock classes besides a cat back exhaust.

On stock 16" wheels and tires best was a 15.0 with 94.5 mph. Spun badly off the line so 60 foot was 2.6 which is very bad. That was last week.

Fast forward to tonight got some drag radials on and ran a best of 14.1 about same trap speed right under 95 mph. 60 ft was 2.1 so the torque is still overwhelming the drag radials. With less sloshy suspension and a 60 foot below 2.0, high 13's should be in the bag.

        Anybody else go?

14.1 is impressive on just radials!

What launch RPMs were you using for both sets of tires?

Have been watching the results - good first outing! Ask them to stop by and post in the Racing forum - I have questions for them. BTW, you can do more than just a swaybar and exhaust but it is limited.

Does your car have a tuning box, or is the motor stock for the most part?

Stock tires, anything over 3500 rpms it spins almost indefinitely and until you pedal past the 60 foot mark. DR's you have to launch above 4K to prevent a bog, but it still spins out of the hole because of the crappy stock suspension.

It's got a tuning box, 3" downpipe and a couple of other tweaks.

All the bolt-ons. Exhaust is still stock and so are the I/C.

Here's the slip of the 14.1 pass. It's the car on the left on the slip obviously.
