8 days, 1200 miles, Cincinnati to Knoxville, Cincinnati to Indianapolis, the rest just putting around town, DIC mileage is at about 39. On fill ups, I am seeing miles driven divided by gallons pumped to be about 1 mpg less than the DIC. I feel like I am driving a Hybrid, gets better mileage in town than 70-75 on the interstate. But I don't have to worry about relpacing a $20000 battery or having it blow up, LOL.

On a recent drive from St. Louis back home to Minneapolis I managed to average 44.1 MPG by my own measurements. The EVIC reported 48 MPG so clearly it's a bit off, but I managed 44 without driving slowly or especially cautiously. Awesome!

My 2012 FIAT 500 "Pop" 5-speed has been averaging 43.8 mpg. If I drive more aggressively it tapers-off a little, slow down the pace and right back to nearly 44 mpg, so I'm MORE than satisfied. Only mod so far is the RoadRace "Corsa" C.A.I., mileage is unaffected. HTWT.

I made a 400 mile round trip this weekend. From point A to point B, I set the cruise control at 80 mph (without a/c - it was a morning drive). I got about 35 mpg. On the way back to point A, I set the cruise at 70 mph (but ran the a/c). I got 41.4 mpg. The car is a 500C pop 5 speed with less than 2000 miles.

Going up to Cleveland, we knock out 47.1 MPG for about 15 minutes. Then it dropped to 45.8.

PS. I do 4-5 mph over the limit but take off sensibly.
My fuel savings, more than pays my full coverage insurance and part of my payment, compared to my Mercedes ML 320. ( which got relinquished to tow only status. LOL

Very good point that the $avings on fuel cost will offset some of the other expenses. If you view 40 mpg costs (at $4.00 per gallon) vs. 20 mpg or so over a ten-year period, your car becomes "free" in comparison to the lesser-mpg vehicle. This has to be one of the main advantages of small car ownership, another reason I LOVE my FIAT 500. HTWT.

This is a neat site my son hooked me on.

I just got my Ecodrive storage thingy.. I think I'm only going to use it when my wife drives so she can learn some fuel saving techniques. LOL

Driving my 0-mile 500 pop from Phoenix to Portland, OR got 38mpg... but I spent well over four hours at 95mph and most of it either above 80 or doing back-road twisties at WOT. Very cool car!

My Pop is automatic with 2800 miles. I drive a mixture of highway and town. I'm only getting 32 mpg. Is that about right for an automatic??

nice numbers! I also have a 2012 Pop. I am coming from daily driving a modded Subaru STI so anything compared to that is awesome in the MPG department. I am blown away with how nicely the 500 does though. It's much better than expected. Stupid EPA rating them so low!

I do not have a Fiat so I am trying to make a comparison. I drive a Hyundai Sonata 2,4 engine with 198hp. I drove from Cleveland to Youngstown and back ,108 miles at 55mph.The computer on dash showed 46,3 mph. These are the facts.

i just came from two hyundais. having done all my research, one thing is certain. the hyundai on board computer mpg readout have tended to be awfully inaccurate.

never mind. a random hyundai driver with one post....hmmmmm.

I just purchased a White Pop this weekend and I'm loving it. So far, I've yet to fill it up. Based on miles driven & what the range says, I'm getting approximately 36mpg (60/40 City/Highway) in "Sport" mode. What a great car.

Side note, my teenage daughter has a knack for naming things with with humorous precision. When I asked her what to name my Pop, she came back 10 minutes later and said "Brutto", which is Italian for "Ugly". Perfect, just perfect!

Long live Brutto!

I think one of the killer things about the automatic is that several people - including myself - are getting really good mileage.
I was driving down a remote road the other day at about 50MPH and the instant economy was a steady 44MPG. The trip average was pretty good too, 38, considering that I am pretty heavy-footed.

Hi,

Although I normally work in Washington DC, every week or so Imake a trip up to my company's home office in Maryland (near BWI airport). for me this is about a 50 to 55 mile trip (depending on the route I take). Today my trip computer in my manual Pop indicated 54.1 miles @ an average speed of about 52mph and a recorded mpg of 52.5. On previous trips I have gotten similar or even in a couple cases better. My best such trip was about 54.3 mpg, and I did another one @ 53.6 (I think).

Alot of this though just depends on miscellaneous things, like traffic, construction, accidents along the way, etc.

Either way though, I believe that its probably very possible to get really good mileage (or at least better than expected mileage) with alot of cars, if you drive carefully and pay attention to little things.

Regards

Pat

I had my best tank ever last fill. 46.2mpg. Previous best was 43.9mpg. These are all calculated, not what the EVIC says. My worst tank mpg was 36.3mpg on my 3rd fillup. I am at 22,300mi on my base sport 5spd. Only mod is MOPAR exhaust. I don't do any hypermiling except that when in rush hour traffic I keep my distance from the cars in front of me so I don't have to yo-yo.

Fiat 500 pop, 5 speed manual, in 3 weeks I made 1812 miles, mainly commuting from Norman Ok to Lawton Ok.
On I44, if I keep cruise control on 75mph, with A/C running non stop, the EVIC gives me an average of 39.8.
Same trip at 65mph: 46.1

I'm getting 43-46mpg consistently since I installed the Road Race short ram air intake. I try hard to keep my max speed under 65mph, use cruise control, and limit the a/c unless it is roasting.

just an update: made a trip down to Alpine Tx, Marfa Tx. On a TX Interstate by holding the speed limit of 80mph for almost 150 miles, with a tank full of 93oct gas (no ethanol), no a/c, 5th gear with cruise control the evic gave me a 42.7 mpg ! but i need to say the Interstae past Abilene and Midland-Odessa going W is a straight flat shot, wind was calm and traffic below average.

I have nearly 18000 mi on my 2012 automatic 500 Pop, most of the time in my daily commute of 40 miles each way I drive conservatively and average 39 mpg. I have gotten as high as 43 but that is with the cruise set at 55 and mostly flat land. I select routes with fewest stops, coast or down shift to stops and try to guage my speed when approaching lights to prevent full stop/start. In my typical around town driving I get about 30-32. So overall I beat the rated of 28 city and 34 hwy. However, weekends are my fun times usually kicking in Sport-mode and shifting which drops mileage to about the 35 range. I usually fill with 89 or 91 octane.

Fuel makes a big difference too. Try finding a station that sells pure gasoline. (No Alcohol)

www.pure-gas.org/

I did and i gained about 15% better fuel mileage over Ohio's winter fuel.
