The 500T is basically a non-intercooled turbo in a sport. Itll be about 135hp and come in around 19k

I've only heard very little about this. I wonder when they will show this and when it will be available.

The rumor was that sometime between July and September of this year the 500 Turbo is supposed to replace the 500 Sport.

Just my personal opinion but I think they should take the sport and give it the 160hp Abarth motor but not the interior, exterior , or suspension upgrades that the Abarth has to make the 500T. This would give them a credible Mini Cooper S fighter while maintaining the limited run an exclusivity of the Abarth.

Um no. At 160bhp, it'll still have a lower power:weight ratio than the Cooper S. And without any of the suspension tuning - which the current Sport needs out of the box already - it won't be a match in the handling department either.

They will not make any real comments on this because they do not want to steal any of the thunder for the Abarth that is about to hit. One car at a time... ;)

Psss... you may see something next week though... http://fiat-500-usa-forum-archives.965414.n3.nabble.com/images/smiley/smiley_happy.gif

It doesn't have to match the Cooper S exactly I would take a slightly slower slightly less sharp Fiat 500T any day over the Cooper S because to me the 500 has more character. But I've heard alot of the same comments from people (like me who weren't always Fiat nuts but are drawn to the brand) that the power of the Sport isn't enough and the Abarth will be to limited to get one without paying over the sticker! That's why I suggested that particular setup because you could have the motor but leave off all the other goodies and pricewould come in lower than Abarth. This would IMHO increase sales while not intruding onto Abarths turf.

Considering that I will likely modify the car somewhat, especially the suspension, the lower price point of the 500T makes sense to me. No reason to pay extra for stuff I will remove anyway. Keep us posted.

If I am not mistaken, I believe the European Abarth is roughly 133 hp. The Esseesse (SS) in Europe has 160 horses. So it seems that the 500T will be the North American version of the Euro Abarth; and the North American Abarth is equivalent to the Euro Esseesse. Of course notwithstanding the other differences for North America.

Bring'em on! I haven't had more fun with a car ever - and I have had a few! Love my 500 and I can't wait to drive it each day!!!!

If that's the 500T that's perfect. I was picturing a Sport with the turbo motor but to have the Abarths body kit too is just amazing!

I just noticed the blacked out headlamps and fog lamps too! Pardon me I think I need a moment to myself LOL
