Is it simple to remove the arm rests in the 500e? Even folded up, I find them annoying and in the way.

Google it. Try these:
The only thing I hate about my 500 is the stupidly placed armrest! I cannot reach the brake or shift well when it's down, and it's still in the way when it's up. Has anyone removed this thing? The easier, softer way?? Thanks all, New Owner

This thread (other Fiat website) said there were 2 types of posts for the arm rests. The later type (as in the post above) and some with a shaft sticking out. On comment #23, the owner 3D printed caps.
If you find caps, please let us know. I want to yank my rests, also.- Top

Here are a couple of ideas we've had posted on this forum and taken from the threads (there were 13 threads on the armrest and there are also info on how to remove the post that sticks out) I posted. No need to go to other places Especially as they do not allow reciprocating links to our forum.
The one below looks great.
I've been wanting to ditch the armrests for a while but didn't have anything with which to cover the hole that is left after removal. Today however, the stars aligned! Removal was easy - just a clip that has to be leveraged out with a flathead screwdriver or similar tool. This is what the armrest looks like after removal,
A couple of other ideas:
You can use a miata antenna delete plug. Last year when the guy from performance done right was around (think he had personal issues and sold his cars?) he sold the plugs that fit for our rear wiper delete and also worked well for an armrest delete. You had to cut the nub down that was left and find a way to attach it. I used high temp hot glue on mine and it hasnt moved since the day I installed it. Im sure one of the other threaded style plugs would work similar.
Personally I just put it up as I exit the car and down upon entering and have never comes close to breaking it, it's become as much a habit as turning on Sport mode. What some have done is put a small rubber cap over the piece that remains when the armrest is removed.
A nice alternative is the Wood Company center console.Enjoy the Forum? Tell a Friend and Please Whitelist us on your Ad Blocker. Thx!

Cars that have a nub sticking out can maybe use a vacuum cap or bypass cap for a water pump:
