I'd still love to get an X1/9 some day! Will round up some photos I've taken at car shows.

Here is one of the Fiat X1/9 brochures I picked up at the dealer in 1974. It is an article from Imported Car Performance, one of my favorite car mags back then, and it discusses the X1/9 and the 128 Sport Coupe. Enjoy!

By the way, the headline talks about how the Fiat 128 really gets better gas mileage than the over-hyped Honda Civic- the car that ripped off the Fiat 128/127.

Now we are talking. I have three X1/9s and two parts cars. Two of the Xs are driven by my sons and they are learning about how to maintain classic cars real time.
I have owned my X1/9 for almost 30 years!

Awesome guys! I had to check pedal placement to see whether the images were flipped or it was really a rhd, Abarth67. Beautiful cars.

I was blessed with a ride along in one at a local auto-x. That cut-away view really puts the low seating position into perspective.

I just recently bought a 2013 Fiat 500 Sport for my wife and signed up on Fiat500usa forum. So while cruising around the forum I saw the X1/9 forum.

Seeing the pics brings back some great memories. When I was 18 in 1988, I bought a 78 sky blue X1/9 from the son of the guy I was working for that summer. The kid had drained the radiator for some reason and filled it back up with tap water. We had a rare for Houston cold snap and the water froze, cracking the thermostats bulb and splitting the main lines under the car. I gave him $100 for it and towed it to my house. Over the next few weeks, I used JB weld to seal the thermostat bulb and used pipe hangers screwed to the raceway for the original piping to mount two galvanized pipes on either side. I was nervous the first time I started it, but it turned out there were no other leaks and I drove that car like a wild man for the rest of that summer and part of the next school year until I sold it for $200 to a guy in Austin.

Seeing these pics makes me sad I don't have a pic of the car, I'll have to ask my folks if they maybe have a picture of it from that summer.

This forum may not get much attention, but I just wanted to say I really appreciate you guys posting these pics as they brought back some good memories of cruising around in that car thinking I was some kind of cool guy back then.

Mike

I miss my x1/9 owned it 24 years ago when I was in my teens, it's what made my wife and I buy a 500 and now the 500x was our fond memories of the fiat. was a red 1978. hated when people would ask if it was a fiero lol.

And speaking of X1/9...in the current issue of Money magazine, there is an article about various aspects of being a millionaire. One of the people they talk to is Mark Cuban, and he mentions that he always had a cheap car to drive when he was younger, and he mentions an X1/9!

Bob you would have a blast in an X1/9. Especially as you like to do autocross. An X1/9 is insane at changing directions.

A number of years ago at one of the Cars in Carlisle events coinciding with I think the Import Nationals, I snapped this picture of an X1/9. Too bad I didn't get the whole thing!

I've always liked the body style, liked FIAT overall, etc. Once my new job gets rolling and we're settled, I'll be looking around.

Back in the day I made fun of those little.....I believe "little ****boxes" were what I called them. American muscle or nothing at all was my motto. After joining the military and going to Sicily I discovered the beauty of said s-box. There can be a big difference between fast and fun.

I sure was a stupid teenager jestera

Very nice, and I love those wheels! I have an '81 X... bought it from the late great Mark Plaia way back in October 2006... 207K miles and still runs and looks great. I've got a 2012 500 Abarth, love it to death... but thinking about buying a 124 Abarth... how has your Spider been so far?

The Spider has been great - it's even more intimate inside than the X1/9, but to me it fits like a good running shoe. I've got about 8k miles on it so far with zero issues. Couldn't be happier, so much in fact I've been toying with the thought of selling my X.

I am also a long time X1/9 owner who now owns a new Spider. The new Spider has been great and responded nicely to the mods I have done to her.

That is still the prettiest X I've ever seen, especially with the interior you've put in it. Did you hang on to your 500 Abarth? IIRC, you, Mike and I were the first of the XWeb crowd to buy those in the Spring of 2012.

The 500 Abarth is still in the family, my son drives it now. He loves it. I still miss it sometimes.
