View Full Version : Removed Dash Today Ready for Hydrodipping

10-22-2016, 05:44 PM
Thanks to a few YouTube Videos, a little help from my dealer (a master mechanic) removed the steering wheel bezel and small left side of the dash.... just out of the hospital a few weeks ago hard to contort myself under the dash.... but I was able to remove the right side of the dash.... now off to Tampa Bay Hydrographic's next week for Hydrodipping....stay tuned for the pattern....

it is not a 10 minute job like so many videos say it is but well worth the effort. No my dealer did not charge me that's how cool they are but the mechanic was paid by me... so worth it.

That looks like you'll have to do some cutting. May have to carefully drill or cut off what looks like the plastic weld heads.

I found out those just hold it in place no welded just like a pin raise a bit. but there are several tabs holding it in place..... I broke the chrome ring trying to pry it off but.. found a used assembly like the photo on ebay for $7. might try drilling those holes and a few tabs, good suggestion..... will keep everyone posted on the final result...

http://www.fiat500usaforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=24002&stc=1Figured out how to get the trim rings off. break off plastic under each tab so it's open and then it slides right off kept the bottom two as is just lift over the 2 tabs...

Tip of the day: when replacing the steering wheel shroud find and place a screw retainer (these were from the back side of the dash 500 emblem. This made it simple to replace the lower shroud. Screw in each screw about 3/4 of the way and put shroud in place put small finger in hole and try to insert screw into the hole it will pop right in then tighten repeat for other side..... top shroud will snap into place. Went with HIGH GLOSS Black for top shroud.
