I create these goofy Cream City 500 Club/Mighty Mouse Militia (CC5CM3) Public Service Announcements (PSAs) and post them to our club Pinterest and Facebook pages. Some are better than others. Anyway, I couldn't find an "Image of the Day" thread with the search function. So, I thought I'd start one here... using some of the CC5CM3 PSAs I've posted. These are usually accompanied by thoughts or salutations.

Since learning of and being involved with Fiat (only since 2011) these are a few of my favorite models and are both so very different from one another. If I can locate it I'll see if I can post a pic from when we were in Georgia during FOTD trip of another model.

Here's a neat concept car from Mopar called the Fiat 500 Titanium from a few years back. One of the cool things about this car was it debuted before the 500 Abarth came out in the US, so it gave a hint to what the Abarth might look like.

One of the cars that put Fiat on the map here in the US. The European Car of the Year Fiat 124. Jan Norbye, one of the most respected automotive journalist ever once said the engineering of the $1500 124 was worthy of a $10,000 car. It was that good, and that's one of the reason we have a lot of people in the US that waited 28 years or so for Fiat to come back.

Lancia Scorpion. This was the top of the line US Fiat/Lancia you could buy in 1976. It was my dream car back then. I was lucky to find one in 1982 with 16,000 miles on it. What an awesome car.

I had one of these when I was stationed in England. Think it was an '81. It was a Supra Mirafiora. Unfortunately the only picture I have of it. It was a great car...and took me all over East Anglia...down to London a few times...and Brighton on the southern end. Mostly to Nottingham....loved that city.

At the Virginia Beach Cars and Coffee today, (1st Saturday of the month all year), spotted this 1963 FIAT Nuova 500. It was just a bit wet, but I think that makes the images a little cooler even with my cheapo digital camera. Also present today, in addition to my Abarth was a Ferrari F355 Spider, so the Italians were out today despite the weather. Other car photos on my blog and Facebook page.

This car looked to be in great shape, and I noticed that the doors open in reverse too, not sure I'd noticed that before.

The big Fiat 130. My friend had one of these and I got to drive it occasionally. Almost traded my GTV6 for it. It was one fantastic car. Had a Lampredi designed V6 and a five speed and sounded sick. Handled incredibly. It was a pretty big car, about the size of a larger Mercedes, but a whole lot sexier. My friend was the son of an Italian diplomat and the car was owned by the president of Italy at some point. My friend wanted to sell it, so I called Andy Smith who ran FAZA NY and told him about it and he bought it. Wish I bought it myself but there was no way I'd give up my GTV6.

The solid dates are:
Early arrivals - 19-20 (Wed, Thu)
Official Kick-off - 21-23 (Fri thru Sun)

Very few people show up Wednesday unless they're traveling a long way. We'll have minimal planned that evening. The same kinda goes for Thursday, but we'll have more activity that day. Friday-Saturday are the big attendance days and will be the most action packed. Sunday is a solid half-day of events.

As do I. They perfectly defined the philosophy of the automaker. That's it drives my crazy when people want FIAT ads to conform with the ads Brand X produces. I don't mind being identified with simply More, Not All Bad Boys Were Created Equal, eNVIRONMENTALLY Sexy, Sexy People, Endless Fun and/or Free as a Bird ads. MODern Living is what attracts me to these cars... no matter the era.

I know I mentioned it before, but the missus is from Europe (Slovenia). She digs Jeeps... they sell alongside Alfa Romeo in the EU.

At the local dealer the Alfa is sold along with Jeeps...it is in the Jeep showroom instead of the Fiat showroom next door where it was originally. They had 4 and sold none so I think they moved it to the higher traffic area.

A blast from the past. Fiat 128. In case someone doesn't know, this car is the bases of all modern front wheel drive cars. Transverse overhead cam engine, rack and pinion steering, electric cooling fan and a transmission removable without having to pull the engine. It was also sweet to drive, and had an insane amount of room.

Do yourself a favor - stop watching Saturday Night Live right now- don't worry, you're not going to miss anything funny. Take some time and watch a good video history on the Lancia Delta S4 .

Make sure you watch the last video, too. It's a tragic end to a fantastic person. If you are a new Fiat/ Lancia/ Abarth fan, or just want to be a well rounded car enthusiasts, this car is one of the important ones to know about.

This is one brutal car - 0-100kph =2.9 seconds 0-200 kph= 9.6 seconds

I'm aware of the FIAT S.p.A. aviation program as well as some of their other exploits. I'm married to someone whose people were terrorized by WII Italians... I tend to steer very clear of that slice of the company history. You've no doubt noticed the lack of any aviation or train photos and entries at the CC5C blog.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/0a/Giovanni_Agnelli.jpg

The company founder, don Giovanni Agnelli, abhorred working for the Axis Powers. He even abruptly walked away from the company he founded for a period after Mussolini took over Italy. He, later, came back and was given what I would characterize as a "paper title" in exchange for running the company. Following the Allied liberation of Europe, no Agnelli was allowed to run the company they founded until the mid-to-late '60s. That is when don Giovanni "Gianni" Agnelli stepped into the spotlight and brought the company into true automotive dominance with the help of genius designers led by don Dante Giacosa.

I expected you and some others would know. ;) Yes, I don't go into the military subjects of the time either. It was posted for informational purposes to let folks know that Fiat is more than just a car company and has excelled in other areas.

An interesting tidbit from back then was Fiat continued to supply Britain during the "Phoney War (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoney_War)" period from Sept 1939 thru May 1940 while its partner Germany (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pact_of_Steel) and Britain were at war.*

True... don Agnelli's heart versus the reality of the changing Italian political landscape. I can't imagine what must've been going through his mind. He's always wanted to rise to a higher social class (it was working) and he planned to take Working Class Italy with him. Then, Mussolini comes around and fouls up everything.

Anyway... I'm happy the Agnellis never gave up on their dream. They picked the right designers/engineers and partners and we get reap all the benefits.

Most of the show cars are specially prepared to the point of even being hand painted. Here's a look at how they get the ride height they want - a threaded bolt - quick and easy.

Good one! I think the Fiat pillar jack has caused that reaction in quite a few people!

Whenever you bought an old Fiat you have to make sure the jacking port was not rusted or it would pull off the body. You also had to make sure you put the jack in correctly or the jack would get too close to the body and put a nice long scratch/dent in the body as you jacked the car up. You can see how close the jack is to the door on that 500. Our new cars are sooo much easier....

Respect to all the other cool cars there, but it's great to see some Italian iron mixed in with all those English cars! Came close to buying a 1750/2000 GTV a few times but never did. The GTV6 I had (still have) and a bunch of Fiats kept me too busy to go for it. Wish I did make room for one. Those old Alfas are tough as nails (and a lot cheaper to run than the GTV6 at least back then)! I prefer them over the 2002. So much sexier.

Show season is about to kick off with the LA Auto Show at the end of the month. Here are a few memories from the NY Auto Show last spring.

I'm a bit anxious to learn what FCA-NA has planned for the F500 and A500 if they're changing anything at all.

while traveling in Mexico I spotted this beauty............. I think it was a TURBO.. not sure?? In Mexico Dodge, Chrysler,FIAT and Mitsubishi are all under the same umbrella so the truck you see on the picture it is actually the FIAT FullBack with Mitsubishi badges. I really like the lines and design of this truck not to big or small just the right size.
