Ok, so I know I'm not crazy....a month ago or so I pulled up the lever to fold the passenger seat and was surprised to see it fold completely flat. I knew this was a feature on the L and my roomies Cherokee but wasn't sure about the X. Anyway, now the seat refuses to fold flat. It would have come in handy when putting the original exhaust in the car. Is there some special trick to getting it to do so, did I imagine the feature, or is my seat broke?? Can someone verify whether their front seat folds flat? Thanks!

If no one replies before this evening, I will try it on our X and get back to you.

From the 2016 500X (USA) brochure (under "interior", page 60), I copied and pasted this:

Fold-flat front-passenger seat: S S S S S

The S's (for 'standard, of course) appear under the respective columns for each and all of the 5 trim levels.

Sounds like it should be able to fold flat...

Here are two pics of what I found to be the service limit of the folding capability of the front passenger seat. Not exactly what I would call "flat".

Sorry the one is sideways.

No, it doesn't look flat to me either. I checked our 500 L's seat and while it doesn't fold exactly flat, it looks closer to flat than your picture shows.

By the way, that's a nice combo- red exterior with the dove/grey interior. I wish they made that interior available on more trim levels than just the base Lounge.

Hmmmm...thanks for the pics. This is what my seat did too but I thought it was supposed to go completely flat. It's still better then what regular seats do, but like you said, not exactly "flat".

The side bolster was touching the seat bolster, which is what stopped it from being able to fold any further down. It would need a higher pivot point if it was to be able to go completely flat.

I still wonder about this. I tried it on my roomie's 2015 Cherokee, and his seat folds completely flat and it has large side bolsters too. To me, why would Fiat advertise it as a fold flat seat if it doesn't actually fold flat? I still seem to remember that the first time I tried it, it did fold completely flat because I remember being surprised by it.

If you figure it out, let me know!

As a side note, a friend of mine also has a Cherokee and I LOVE the under-cushion storage. Wish the X had that.
