Hi everybody,

Just wanted to see if anyone has had any off-road adventures with your X. Would be interested in knowing how the car managed to get you out of the mud/sand/snow...

I took mine here in Costa Rica to a mountain trip with loose gravel / lite mud and it was a blast, I was able to go over some hills even with stock tires.

Funny you should mention that- here's an article written a little more from the off-road perspective that just came out on the net a few hours ago:

Sounds like she'll do pretty well- glad you're enjoying yours!

Cheers,

Ron

Very cool. One of the reasons I bought an AWD X is to use it for mountain bike trips. I'm glad to hear it will handle some of the rough roads and dirt track that I might go down to get me to the trail head!

Yeah, I could feature doing something along these lines. I'm just about committed to taking the plunge in the next month or so- got the wife's approval, now it's just color/trim/collection decisions.

Not sure if I saw this video on this forum or elsewhere first so if it's a double post, my apologies. In any case, it's appropriate for this thread. The X impresses me!

Nice article! there's very little info the X AWD abilities, let alone youtube videos, I've been watching a lot of renegade videos as it is the most similar car out there.

I will record some videos on my next trips and will upload them to this thread.

Hope to see yours soon!

Thanks for sharing that cool picture! I think it would be really cool if we had a thread of 500X's "in the wild".

That is a great article and the scenery in the background is fantastic.

We don't call it off-roading here, we just call it "driving around." Only the main highways and the streets in town are paved, everything is dirt. With the temperatures warming up, they are starting to get really muddy.

The car does just fine. Mine has Nexen Street Tires which are not that great when it gets muddy and greasy. I plan on putting on a set of Yokohama Geolandars. They're not a true off-road tire, but they do have a bit more aggressive tread than a regular all-season.

The other day, I was just outside of town on a road that was very muddy. The drivetrain itself was very capable, but I turned back after I started slipping and sliding because of the tire tread packing up with mud.

Around here this time of year, you pretty much don't bother washing the car because it just gets muddy again.

Here is another review of the 500X (and a very positive one at that!), that is covers the X's off-road abilities in good detail. Enjoy!
