I will be replacing my 3rd windshield on my 500L Trekking in 2 years. Anyone else having issues with these windshields cracking so much or are these cars just rock magnets? Thanks, John

Only eight months in(12K miles) on truck and SUV-laden central Texas highways and (knock on wood), not a chip in sight! Just had a parking lot crease removed from the right front fender; but the glass is still pristine. I hope I don't regret typing that out loud ;)

I know someone with the same issue on a 2015 Abarth

On top of it, every time they so up they have the wrong windshield and usually have to come back another day even after I tell them to double check and I use the same place each time. ugh!

Jlasinski, I've not encountered this issue (knock knock) but just in case, what is the going rate for a new windshield on the 500L? I assume you are going outside the dealer.

Unfortunately there is no 3rd party company making a windshield for the 500L. The glass company has to order one from the dealer every time and I think they are over $600. Fortunately, I changed my glass deductible to $0 copay. Guess we will see how long the insurance company keeps paying if this keeps happening. John

One in November '15, another last March. Each time took a week or two, partly because Safelite had to wait on OEM glass, and partly because I needed the "w/ rain sensor" windshield, even though no rain sensor.

i had a semi truck shoot off a rock that hit my windshield and cracked it. it eventually split the windshield and had to have it replaced. dont drive to close to cars and maybe it wont happen again. seems easy to crack. thin for a huge windshield? maybe. i had my mechanic order a fiat windshield.

Are these things made of paper! Fricken Unbelievable! I walked out to my car this afternoon to find my windshield cracked yet again. Fiat Cares what gives? It is less than 6 months since I had the last one replaced. I do not recall anything hitting the windshield. This one is working its way up from the lower passenger side corner. This will be my 6th windshield in less than 2 years and they have always been Fiat OEM glass. Fortunately I changed my insurance to zero deductible on glass but at this rate its just a matter of time before my insurance company starts complaining or drops my coverage.

Sorry this was kind of tacky but it was the only thing I could think of to lighten the situation....

I had to replace glass 1x and right now my 2014 500L is in the shop for another issue, so I had to rent from Enterprise. Both 2016 500L's at the rental company had cracked windshields.

I'm on my second windscreen for my regular 500. Which now has two rock impacts. These are very uprights cars so we have aerodynamics working against us.
