View Full Version : Wanting 500T To Have Abarth Bark.

Greetings lads.

I'm looking to achieve the Abarth's wonderful burbly, cackling notes into my standard 500T. I am going to assume Intake and/or Exhaust will be enough to achieve this. Performance within itself is not necessary, as I find my car plenty fast enough for me already. (Especially to remind me time and time again I need a whole new suspension setup that's far less "aloof" when the coals are poured on.) As poserish as this may sound, I am indeed looking for more bark over bite.

Intake:
Which brand/type of Intakes do others recommend for the 500T?
Will I require a tune to prevent MAF error codes to the ECU?

Exhaust:
Looking for a Cat-back system so as not to disrupt the emissions requirement in my county.
Single tip is preferred to prevent me from having to replace the Diffuser.

Again I don't want anything that sounds ridiculous, just the simple stock Abarth tone is what I wish to achieve. Obviously I want to remain as unobtrusive to the vehicle's form (single sided exhaust to utilize current diffuser for e.g.) as much as possible. Not really wanting to go nuts here, just enough.

TIA.

This muffler delete pipe will do it.

For the intake, there is no mechanical difference between Abarth and 500T intake so nothing to change there.

If you have a trusted muffler shop, they would be able to do that piping for much cheaper, however that looks like a nice unit that is easily installable.

I had a muffler shop cut out the muffler and replace that section. There is a restriction as the pipe size changes to a smaller size when it gets to the axelback section. Cost $150 pipe/labor/new tip. Took him 30 minutes. Sounds just like an Ab.
Intake: you will get a lot more turbo sounds and add more throatiness. I have had the EC V2 w/o any issues.

you don't need a tune for great sounds. Do it it, makes the car more satisfying.

How is the sound straight-piped? Drone? Is it ever too much for you or offensive? Considering it but not sure if I'd regret it.

TY.

I have the back seat out so I am sure it is a bit louder. I think it will bother you, if you try to have a serious conversation or your sig. other is not into it. I have had a lot of compliments on the sound. It sounds like an Italian sports car. So causal cruising while chatting might cause problems.

The conservative approach would be to replace the axlback at the flange and bolt the muffler back on or you could always switchout the stock muffler w/ a flowmaster. That is what I was going to do at 1st but the muffler guy talked me out of it. thanks muffler guy.

Thanks man. I was going to blow the $300 on the NEU-F FIAT 500T EXHAUST and that way I could go back and forth myself. My main thing was heading off blowing the $300 unnecessarily if it's crazy loud. ;-)

I have a '13 500T. Its not the prettiest pipe under there but its out of site so you have to crawl under the car to see my setup.
