I ran across these spy shots of the 2017 124 Abarth. Take a look!

Prefer the smooth hood as shown in the second YouTube with the yellow car over the hood dents in the regular 124 Spider. I rather expect the sentiment may be echoed by others. Plus, much nicer front end. The grill work on the yellow car looks so much better, sleeker, less "busy" than the regular version.

This is what this car has to live up to:

The grille shape, double humps and other design features are the 124 Abarth Rally's signature features. The grille's shape on the new car gives the design its continuity to the classic. Coming from someone who has owned a couple of original Spiders and grew up with posters of these cars in my room, I think the yellow car is pretty bland and generic "design" in my opinion. When I first saw the new car in Detroit, I instantly saw and felt the connection to the cars I grew up with. The yellow car just looks like a bland Photoshop job to me.

Look closely at the yellow car in the 2nd video. Do you see the character line swoop up over the door handle as in the Fiat 124 Spider? No, instead I see the crease up the rear quarter panel like the Mazda ND MX5 has. This is a photoshop job that didn't even use the Fiat 124 Spider as the starting point! Sorry, no sale here!

So true Chris. Anyone who has had the pleasure of driving the 124 Abarth of old will tell you just how hard it will be to match the rush. Morrisg is likely quite correct that the yellow car is a Pshop job. It's still anyone's guess as to what the final configuration will actually look like. But I still think the videos were interesting none the less.
