Big thanks to Jonathan Woodall at FIat Birmingham, I'm back in the Fiat fold, I bought an abarth from them in 2013, since sold but am trading my wife's prius in and picking it up tomorrow.

I have a story about that color. When i was buying mine a few months ago, the dealership had one that a customer bought and and wanted sort of latte colored leather put in the car. Which they did through a third party vendor.

It become know and the pumpkin spice latte car.

Congrats on your X.

Woo hoo! Congratulations! Prius to a 500X. How does your wife feel about it? Bet she loves the color. And you'll both enjoy driving it. Any day trips on the agenda?

That's the color I wanted, but the dealer only had one and it was not AWD which is one of the few things I had to have.

So I drove the 150 miles to B'ham to pick up the car and drop off the prius. I was pleasantly surprised to find the 500X is built in ITaly, I guess I just assumed it was built in Serbia or Mexico. Guess the fact it came from Italy just a little bit extra!

Love the color. The drive back was great, it appears to be very well made (I'd never seen one up close). I came home and my wife promptly wanted to take it out, she loves it. It's a bit peppier than the prius so she'll need some getting used to that. But very happy!

Good to know your 150-mile drive turned out to be worth it. Yeah, actually the fact that the 500X is built in Italy (and at the Melfi plant which is one of the largest and most advanced in Europe) finally pushed me into taking a chance and buying it. So far, so good . . . and, just for trivia, the first 2 letters of the VIN designate it as being built in Italy.

"It's a bit peppier than the prius"--now that's an understatement, and funny as well. I saw a Prius review in YouTube, more of a parody actually, where the person said "it does 0-60 in 60" or something to that effect

I recall being surprised by that too, not what I was expecting, but I like it. BTW, the Jeep Renegade is made Italy too, at the same plant as the Fiat 500X, which makes sense given their common development and shared platform.

Are we talking B'ham of Alabama? Just wondering if the orange color has any university team connections....Auburn, Tenn, Clemson?
The orange isn't 'burnt' enough to be a UTexas-centric color(maybe the copper RAME), maybe close enough to OK State to be 'trouble' out here in Longhorn land.
I went to USC(the original) and the deep red FIAT Rosso Pearla color is close enough to Garnet to be of interest to Gamecock fans; but I'm not enough of an alum to drive one way out here 1200 miles from Columbia, SC. ;)

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the forum! I didn't realize that the orange was so popular with people the dealer I went to had two of the and one was a trekking edition.

HIya, Coach, no school color reasons here, I went to a tiny community college ;)

If you are curious about how modern cars are made, this was recently released by the BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p033zfvw

That particular show follows a car though a Mini plant in the UK, but its likely similar processes were used when building the 500x.
