So I thought I would start a build thread of my 500X just so I can share over time the progress of my cute ute.

Cool. Thanks for posting. I need to get around to ordering some mats, too, before the bad weather hits.

Thanks for looking at my thread Joseph. I do have a question for you, how much drop does the lowering springs you sell provide?

Mark,

Of course! So from what I'm seeing the exact drop on our MADNESS Spring will be 35mm which is a tad under 1.4". I'll say that this option has been very popular with dealers due to the fact you won't have to worry about sacrificing the ride quality yet it adds for that nice sporty look you're more than likely going after! I hope this helps you out!

So a little feedback on my 500x. This past Thursday I was going to town and my hatch light came saying it was open. So I pulled over and reclosed my hatch but no matter how times I did it the dang thing would not stayed closed! Well I went home shut off the car closed the hatch and it stayed closed so I was hoping it was a small glitch. Well on Saturday the same thing happened again to my wife so I made a call to the dealer today. The manager of the service center said the latch is a fairly common and he replaced one this past weekend and he already has 2 on order. So I made an appointment for Wednesday to get it fixed so I'm hoping me going to the dealer won't be a weekly affair. I will let all of you know how it turns out.

Did your problem get resolved? Also I am considering a 500X and was wondering what input you can give me about the car. Are you happy with it and would you buy it again? Are you having any problems? I am interested in the Lounge with package #4, but unsure of the color. The first one I saw at the dealership was a black lounge with the brown leather. It was absolutely beautiful, but I'm getting tired of black cars. The last 2 I've owned were black. I'm also interested in the gray that looks like an off white and would like to see the 2 bronze colors. Any inputs on colors? Thanks for your help.

Hi Tim, I did get my hatch problem resolved and haven't had any other issues with the vehicle since then. I meant to do some feedback but work has been really busy. Am I happy no I'm not I am absolutely thrilled with the car and love it more everyday. I look for reason to drive my 500x and take the long way home at times. I love the bronze color and I think it complements the dash very well and I think if it were yellow or white to color on the dash I think it would be a loud. I would think dark red and dark blue are also fantastic colors but the choice is completely up to you. If you are on the fence for making a purchase I would say go for!

That's the reason I went with a trekking model. Instead of a glossy body color dash, it has a matte dark grey dash.

I just thought I would post a couple of new photos. I really just love the look of the front end on this car. I also hit 1000 miles during Thanksgiving weekend, I know kind of late on posting that.

So I finally I my K&N filter today, I hope to see a little increase in MPG. I don't think I will feel any performance gains I'm not being a pessimist just being real.

Whoomp there it is! It was a very easy install and you can see from the side by side pictures the factory filter is super thick and restrictive.

Notice any change in performance or mpg with the K&N?

To be honest with you I was getting 22.5 mpg average before the filter and now I get 21.9, so it is a loss. I was hoping for an improvement but it just didn't happen. I recently moved to Rhode Island and it didn't go up even a tenth of a gallon mpg. I also have made 2 trips to Boston and nothing other than a slight growl upon start up and it is slightly more snappy off the line.

Sounds like the factory tune is best with the stock filter. Thanks.

So I ordered a stubby antenna from Craven Speed and it arrived today and wouldn't you know it's the wrong one. So I called them and without hesitation they realized the wrong one was sent to me so I have a new one going in the mail today. I will say the stubby is well stubby and the quality looks real good so I look forward to getting the right one soon so I can give some feedback.

So I received my new antenna today from Craven Speed and it is a beautiful fit. I took a picture of the 1st antenna I received to the far left, the correct one in the middle and obviously the factory Fiat one at the far end. I will give some feedback in about a week as to how well the radio is working.

So I have a little feedback on my stubby antenna. So far it has been great, it looks good and I haven't notice any loss in my reception. If you are looking for a first mod that is affordable I would suggest this.

So I put some LED bulbs in my hatch and glove box and the light is absolutely amazing! I also have no dash notices for missing bulbs. I want to change the overhead and rear seat light next. It should be noted I took these photos at night with no flash on my phone.

So I finally got my spare tire kit, I really wish I would have ordered this a little sooner. I will install it today and give a little feedback on the install it should be straight forward.

So I put the spare in and it was as easy as it gets, it was actually harder to get the tools in the case. Everything else sits in again the way it did before and I lost very little storage. Now that I have peace of mind from having the spare I can tint the front windows.

So I installed my new headlights today and from what I can tell so far it is an improvement oven the old halogen bulb setup. In the second photo you can see the difference between the yellow halogen bulb on the passenger side and brighter and whiter LED on the driver side. The last photo is with both bulbs replaced and now all of a sudden my running lights look dingy and yellow I guess those will also have to go.
